With The Book of Tobit, a footnote mentioned:
Code:
4, 19: Pray is the foundation of moral life.

What do you think about this?

Well, the Fact that it is NOT part of the Bible, and just a Footnote in the particular Bible Version you are reading, does not overwhelm me, Right off the Top.

But, on TOP of that, the Foundation of a Moral Life is to be Believe in Jesus Christ as our Messiah, and God Himself.
Jesus WANTS us to Believe in Him … without this Belief, there is NO Value in Prayer … Well, let’s say (at Least) that your Prayer will NOT necessarily be a Foundation of Moral Life.
And, if we Believe in Jesus Christ, we will also want to live a Moral Life.
Wanna is very Powerful … certainly more than rattling-off bored Prayers
So, to be Effective at ALL, a person should not just Pray … but Pray mindfully, and with Love for God.

And, to a very Spiritual Person, they can get EVEN CLOSER to Jesus (and Worship Him) than with any Prayer.
Jesus Christ said that Love of God (the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit) is the HIGHEST Honor you can give to God.
Jesus calls this the GREAT Commandment.
So, if you can have a virtual LOVE AFFAIR with Christ … you are touching Heaven.
This is the BEST thing you can do for God (while still breathing, down here on Earth).

And then, down the Totem Pole quite a bit, is to Love others (at Least those who are Loveable).
But, the Main Thing is, do NOT harbor Hatred in your Heart.
Get Angry at someone, feel it for a while, then Let Go of that Anger . . . it has served its Purpose.
Then, think of your Love for Jesus, and feel some of that Emotion for a while.
This is 24-Karat Gold.
It always HAS been … and it ALWAYS will be.

**Rejoice always.
Pray without ceasing.
In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. **1 Thess 5:16-18

With all prayer and supplication, pray at every opportunity in the Spirit. Eph 6:18

But without faith it is impossible to please him, for anyone who approaches God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. Heb 11:6

I’ve become increasingly convinced that asking, seeking, and knocking brings us closer and closer to God. Often enough we seem to do this mainly when things go wrong, which, unfortunately or otherwise, is normal for us even as we should learn to pray always so that we may draw near to the Creator and lover of our souls-and find the peace He desires us all to have.

4love2God, You have mentioned an effective statement:
Code:
Pray mindfully, and with Love for God.

Prayer should be more than just a mere recitation of words

fhansen, “Asking, seeking and knocking brings us closer and closer to God.” is a beautiful statement.

We children were taught to pray with reverence.
Reverence should always accompany prayer.

Prayer is the sincere desire of the heart made known unto God.
