Hello everyone!

Does anyone know of a particularly nice prayer of gratitude? I know this is a bit silly of me, but it’s my nature to worry … my (retired) mother drives an elderly car that has been making NASTY noises for months now, and she’s been stubborn about taking it in (it’s also leaking oil), so I’ve been praying all this time for the Lord to somehow make her take the car in - before it’s too late, and she’s either in an accident or stranded somewhere.

Today the car started making a LOT of noise when she was a block away from (returning) home. She won’t drive it now, but is having it towed Monday to her mechanic, whom I’ve already talked to and has a fair idea that it’s the water pump. The car is sitting safely in the garage until then (and I can drive her wherever she needs to go in the interim).

I am so relieved, I could just cry - and ‘THANK YOU for keeping Mum safe and making her take the car in, Lord!’ just seems inadequate, so does anyone know of anything a bit more … formal?

Thank you! 🙂

For he has delivered us from the nether world,
And saved us from the power of death;

He has freed us from the raging flame
and delivered us from the fire.
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his mercy endures forever.

Bless the God of gods, all you who fear the Lord;
Praise him and give him thanks,
because his mercy endures forever.

I love that prayer from Daniel, too, Deb. Here’s a wonderful psalm for thanksgiving:

Psalm 138 (137)
I thank you, Lord, with all my heart,
you have heard the words of my mouth.
In the presence of the angels I will bless you.
I will adore before your holy temple.

I thank you for your faithfulness and love
which excel all we ever knew of you.
On the day I called, you answered;
you increased the strength of my soul.

All the rulers on earth shall thank you
when they hear the words of your mouth.
They shall sing of the Lord’s ways:
“How great is the glory of the Lord!”

The Lord is high yet he looks on the lowly
and the haughty he knows from afar.
Though I walk in the midst of affliction
you give me life and frustrate my foes.

You stretch out your hand and save me,
your hand will do all things for me.
Your love, O Lord, is eternal,
discard not the work of your hands.

Aww, dear Betsy, that is just beautiful - it left me grinning from ear to ear as I read it aloud. Thank you so very much! :hug3:
