In a Catholic Young Adult Bible Study several years ago I first learned of the Prayer of the Holy Family, as follows:
“Jesus, Mary, & Joseph we love you
save the souls of the unborn children
all souls in purgatory
all priests and religious
all marriages and families.”
The leader introduced it after everday decade as follows
Decade of Hail Mary’s - Glory Be - O’ My Jesus - then Prayer of the Holy family - introduction of new decade - Our father - decade of Hail Mary’s - repeat…
I loved the prayer and adopted it into my own recitation of the Holy Rosary. I tried to do a search online to learn the origin of the prayer but could not find it.
I did find that F.O.C.U.S. (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) groups use the above in their recitation.
At the end of the rosary - 7 Glory Be’s.
God bless everyone.

- If anyone could enlighten me I’d be much appreciative. I figured any opportunity to pray for the souls in Purgatory is welcome/needed.
At the end of the rosary - 7 Glory Be’s.
- It’s said after the Hail Holy Queen, and O’ God whose only Begotten son prayers.
- the 7 count off from each piece from the center piece of the rosary, first Our Father bead, the 3 beads for the 3 hail mary’s of the 3 theological virtues of faith-hope-charity, and the crucifix.
- The blogger said it was an old family tradition done to remind them of the principality of all we do should be for God’s glory + 7 (the divine number of completion in Hebrew numerology) + and it’s a good way to round out the rosary back to the crucifix
- If anyone could point out the origin of this tradition I’d be much appreciative as well!!!
God bless everyone.
