Prayer request for heroin addicted nephew

It seems as if drug abuse is never-ending. My nephew has been a heroin addict for about 5 years, in and out of treatment and rehab, and a few days ago overdosed and nearly died. He has been given a choice of jail or rehab (again). I am well aware that this is most likely a losing battle, and he will end up dead, but I just do not want to give up hope that somehow God will touch him and he will be victorious against this addiction. So I am asking for prayers for him again (I had asked for them previously, and he did well for a while, then relapsed).

There is nothing else that can be done on our part for him. Any enabling behavior on the part of the family has ceased, most of us are just waiting for the inevitable, and it is depressing. He is totally in the hands of God now. Please pray that we have some peace about this and don’t give up on him entirely, which is what is so tempting to do. But we know he is the only one who can make the choices he needs to make to live, all we can do is pray.

Praying for your nephew. May he be open to God’s promptings either directly or through someone else. Sometimes it is the voice of another that draws us to the truth. May your nephew’s spirit be open to these promptings. I will add him to my daily prayer intentions book for continuous prayer.

I am praying for a miracle. I know the outcomes for addicts are usually sad ones, but I do know stories (not personally, through a friend) of people who have beat it.

the darkness, I ask you now to send forth your miracle-working power to heal CB Catholic’s nephew. You cleansed the lepers, opened the eyes of the blind and by
speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.
You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from
the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into CB Catholic’s nephew’s body and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

Saint Maximilian Kolbe, your life of love and labor for souls was sacrificed amid the horrors of a concentration camp and hastened to its end by an injection of a deadly drug.

Look with compassion upon CB’s nephew, who is now entrapped in addiction to drugs and whom I now recommend to your powerful intercession. Having offered your own life to preserve that of a family man, I turn to you with trust, confident that you will understand and help.

Obtain for me the grace never to withhold my love and understanding, or to fail in persevering prayer that the enslaving bonds of addiction may be broken and that full health may be restored to him, whom I love.

I will never cease to be grateful to God who has helped me and heard your prayer for me.
