It takes your willingness to get up and keep going. I often get frustrated with myself for committing the same sins over and over. I ask our Lord how he can stand to be with me sometimes because I continue to offend him. The only thing our Lord asks is that we continue to love him and continue to strive to avoid sins after we ask for his forgiveness.

Jesus told Sister Josefa in the book titled ‘Divine Love’, “I easily condone their weakness; what I want them to know is that if after their faults and falls they humbly cast themselves into My Heart, I love them always, and pardon them all.” Take courage in these words. All is not lost. There is always the hope of our Lord’s love and mercy to sustain and keep you going toward your goal. Don’t dwell upon what has happened today, look forward and ask for the strength to make small steps in the right direction. Write down all that you are thankful for, all the blessings you have received from our Lord. You will start to see that you can do it, that if you allow him he is most eager to work in your heart… 🙂
thank you. Beautifully said, and much needed.

thank ALL of you.

today has been rough. I feel I’m at such a breaking point. I have decided I need a plan. I had a Grandmother who was morbidly obese and ate the way I’m eating. She would sit and binge and binge. My Mother is overweight and binges to a point but not at all like Grandma or myself. I’m so afraid I’m heading to the place my Grandma occupied and I don’t want to go there. What’s odd, is that HER mother was obsessively skinny! She would use laxatives or make herself throw up and that’s LONG before the days of anorexia in the news! Anyway, obviously, eating problems are a family trait.

Talking with my Mom, a couple of things really stood out to us: 1) that we all have blood sugar issues, theirs = diabetes, mine = hypoglycemia, and 2) we all binge on carbs, simple, refined carbs, that none of us seem to control. I had so many I was to the point of throwing up earlier, that’s how bad it gets.

So, I have been reading the last few hours about Atkins and SugarBusters. I HAVE to have a laid out plan that I can follow, that is very, very strict, at least in the immediate time frame, that will help me get over the carb cravings. I’m not waiting until tomorrow to start. I’m starting RIGHT NOW. Yes, I’ve binged all day and feel horrible, but I’ve had no “nutrition” and I know that’s what I need even though I’m not really hungry. I’m going to wait a while and then fix some chicken and vegetables and a big glass of decaf tea. I’m going to have enough chicken made that I can have it for breakfast so there’s no morning carb-grab on the way to work. I’m going to pack my lunch and a healthy, low to no carb snack and I am making a big pot of chili for dinner tomorrow night.

I think if I do this, plan ahead, have NO refined carbs or simple carbs, that it might help me. Please pray for me. I feel better about this mentally and spiritually than I’ve felt in a few days. I will spend more time in prayer than I have today and just keep putting one foot in front of the other.

Sounds like a plan! Hope your day is going well. Remember, small steps. Here’s one of my favorite old Testament verses, I always find it encouraging:

My son(daughter), when you come to serve the LORD, prepare yourself for trials.
Be sincere of heart and steadfast, undisturbed in time of adversity.
Cling to him, forsake him not; thus will your future be great.
Accept whatever befalls you, in crushing misfortune be patient;
For in fire gold is tested, and worthy men in the crucible of humiliation.
Trust God and he will help you; make straight your ways and hope in him.
You who fear the LORD, wait for his mercy, turn not away lest you fall.
You who fear the LORD, trust him, and your reward will not be lost.
You who fear the LORD, hope for good things, for lasting joy and mercy.
Study the generations long past and understand; has anyone hoped in the LORD and been disappointed? Has anyone persevered in his fear and been forsaken? has anyone called upon him and been rebuffed?
Compassionate and merciful is the LORD; he forgives sins, he saves in time of trouble.

Hail Mary, full of grace.
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
