Prayer Request: My Brother Committed Suicide

I would like to ask everyone to pray for the repose of the soul of my brother, Brian Go. He passed away past 8 am in the morning Philippines time on Holy Monday. I’m afraid it wasn’t a natural death, he shot himself in the head. I was last person to see him alive, and saw his body in his bathroom that morning. I beg all of you to pray for his soul and for my parents, Astrid Go and Larry Go and for myself. He took his life life because he flunked out of college this past semester. Please pray for us all. I hope and pray my brother is in purgatory. God promised to bring a soul to heaven if we pray the Divine Mercy chaplet for them and I hold on to his promise. I wasn’t able to pray when he was dying. I’m just trying to trust that God in His mercy will fulfill His promises and bring Him to heaven eventually.

Please also pray for my family. We are grieving his loss and it is even more difficult because of the horrible act he committed. Though I know my brother was suffering at the time, I did not know he was suffering so much that he would take his own life. He seemed like such happy, normal person on the outside. There were really so few indications. of depression.

I prayed to Saint Therese of Lisieux to give me rose if he was in purgatory. Last Friday, Fr. Bob (a family friend) gave my Mom, Dad and I a bouquet of pale pink roses! He did not know about my prayer to St. Therese. So I know my brother is safely on his way to his heavenly home. But my family is still suffering from this tragedy.

I have also been reminded of Jesus’ Divine Mercy many times. And I trust in Him to save my brother and bring him home.

O most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, in union with the Immaculate Heart of Mary, expand Divine Mercy in such a way that it encompasses those who have taken their own lives. Receive into the abode of the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus, the souls of those who failed to seek Heaven in their grief. Do not look upon their despair as pride, but collapsing under the heaviness of their sorrows. May they too be able to join their voices with those blessing, extolling, praising and thanking You for Your unfathomable mercy. Do not let them escape from the abode, which is the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. Do not look upon their errors and failures, but upon the love of Your own Son and upon His bitter Passion, which He underwent also for their sake, since they too are enclosed in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. I am so very sorry for your loss. It is very painful all that you are going through. May Our Lord comfort each of you and grant you strength of faith. He has been suffering mental health conditions and will be safe with Our Lord in eternal life.

I am so sorry for the terrible grief you and your family are suffering. I join others here and around you in prayers for perseverance and support. Mary, Mother of our Lord Jesus, whose own heart was pierced in anguish that first Good Friday, I ask, Mother, for comfort for the Go family, as you surely know their pain.
 
I am so very sorry for your loss. I will keep your brother, Brian, and your whole family in my thoughts as I say the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the Rosary each day. The depth of Divine Mercy we cannot comprehend, but His Mercy is with your brother.
 
May I say that there is every chance that he would have repented before he died. St Faustian said that some souls who die from suicide or mortal sin get saved due to Jesus’ mercy and go to the fourth level of Purgatory. There is still hope. God is all merciful.

Praying for you and your family and your brother in this very difficult time.

We have a book of petitions in our church that we all pray for in every mass. I will add your family into it.

You, your family and brother are in my prayers. I do pray God will grant you comfort in knowing He is merciful and understanding. I suspect your brother had a problem with depression to begin with and that is why he may have flunked out of college.

Mental health is still such a mysterious and difficult problem for so many people, and none of us can say what state your brother’s soul was in at the time he ended his life. I believe that God does understand and He will be merciful. Keep on in your own hope for eternal life for all of your family. May God show you His mercy and love during this difficult time.

My late husband did this to himself. They had a memorial at the Catholic High School my daughters attended and the priest told us that we know his mental state had to have been seriously compromised, and we can also be assured that the Lord’s Mercy has no limits. Nothing is impossible with God.
Praying so hard for you…I know your pain. PM me if you wish…but know that you are in my prayers in a special today, Divine Mercy Sunday.
