"For me prayer is a surge of the heart, it is a simple look towards Heaven,
it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy."

    The
    Our
    Father
Our Father,
Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done,
on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

A Novena Prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Sacred Heart of Jesus, we know that there is but one thing impossible to You: to be without pity for those who are in suffering or distress. Look down on us, we beg of You and grant us the grace which we humbly and earnestly implore, through the Immaculate Heart of Your most sorrowful Mother to whom You confided us as her children, and whose prayers are all powerful with You. Amen.

***'Who will give me wings, as of a dove, that I may fly, and find rest?
Till then let my soul be fledged, Lord Jesus, let it grow wings, I pray
You, in the nest of Your chastening: let it rest in the cleft of Your
rock, in the cavern of Your wounds. Let it embrace You, the crucified
one: let it take from You the draught of Your precious blood. While
I wait, let this sweet meditation fill my memory, lest forgetfulness
darken it for me: while I wait, let me look upon myself as knowing
nothing, except my Lord, and Him crucified, lest my empty error
seduce my knowledge from the firm foundation of the Faith, let the
delight of all my love be in You, lest I be taken up by any worldly
desire."

Saint Aelred of Rievaulx
( 1109 - 1167 )

Prayer to Love God above all Things

God, my Father,
may I love You in all things and above all things.
May I reach the joy which You have prepared for me in
Heaven.
Nothing is good that is against Your Will,
and all that is good comes from Your Hand.
Place in my heart a desire to please You
and fill my mind with thoughts of Your Love,
so that I may grow in Your Wisdom and enjoy Your Peace.
Amen

***In my prayers…

“Prayer to the Sacred Heart for Perseverance”

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, living and life-giving fountain of eternal life,
infinite treasure of the Divinity, and glowing furnace of love, You are
my refuge and my sanctuary. O adorable and glorious Savior, consume
my heart with that burning fire that ever inflames Your Heart.
Pour down on my soul those graces which flow from Your love. Let my
heart be so united with Yours that our wills may be one, and mine
may in all things be conformed to Yours. May Your Will be the rule
of both my desires and my actions. Amen.

is truly the summary of the whole gospel." “Since the Lord…after handling over the practice of prayer, said elsewhere, ‘Ask and you will receive,’ and since everyone has petitions which are peculiar to his circumstances, the regular and appropriate prayer **(The Lord’s Prayer) **is said first, as the foundation of further desires.”
