While my family came into the Church at Easter Vigil 2010, my wife still hasn’t gotten up the courage to tell her folks. They don’t live in town with us, and we usually just see them twice a month.

They are both very loving people (in fact, I’m one of the few people I know who can’t complain about his inlaws!!) and are strong in their church of Christ faith. But they have made anti-catholic comments in the past.

Her parents are extremely close to her and important to her, and she is worried about what they will say.

She has written, and re-written a letter to them explaining our conversion, but hasn’t mailed it yet.

They probably suspect something, since we took our son out of a very good private church of Christ school and put him in our local (also very good) Catholic school. And I have Catholic books strewn all over the house. But they haven’t mentioned it yet.

Just please pray. St Therese of Lisieux and St Francis are her patron saints. I ask them to pray for her daily. Please help out here, as well!👍

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women and
blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners
now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Jesus, our Lords peace be whit You.
I think it is time to tell, and I am sure they will understand. Religion has been reasons for even wars, but I don’t think that they will be angry, what is there to be angry for? We all do personal choises, and this is one,and I can’t think of anything to be angry for, exept that it has taken so long to tell.
And of course I offer one Hail Mary to You,and my evening prayer as well.
All will be fine,trust me.

Poor girl. I can understand how difficult that could be…but as you say, your wife’s parents have probably seen the clues. Clearly they are respectful in not seeking confrontation about it regardless of what their feelings might be.
I will ask those to Saints to help,

and I ask the Holy Spirit, please will You fill and surround DrSharkey’s wife and her parents as they share this radical news. Please show her how, with Your blessing. Please heal and comfort any hurts, and give her parents gratitude that their daughter is serious about faith and love of God, even if in a different way to theirs.

I know how your wife feels - I have to tell my anti-religious mum at some point to.

I will send out my prayers for her!

Saint Mary of the Cross, please hear my prayer. Please help DrSharkey’s wife with the courage she needs, and for her parents to be understandable.

Praying for DrSharkey’s wife and inlaws…

Dear Lord, please guide the events in this family’s life towards a happy resolution of their painful situation. Grant everyone an open mind and loving heart to be able to “live and let live” each one’s religious preference.

Jesus, King of Mercy. We trust in You. Our loving Mother Mary, please protect this family.

We take refuge under thy protection, holy Mother of God; do not despise our prayers in time of necessity, but always free us from all dangers, o blessed and glorious Virgin. Amen.

Praying for you and your wife to continue to grow in God’s love and be able to share that love with your family …
