Brothers and sisters, my wife and I have had a difficult marriage. In short, we probably should not have gotten married, knowing what I know now about the sacrament and thinking about what I felt and thought about her and marriage at that time. I was unfaithful and hurt her deeply. About 10 months ago, she revealed that she has been having an affair for many years and loves the other guy.
We have stayed together, but it has been very trying. She is still seeing the other guy, but had kept that a secret until she admitted to it a month back. We have openly discussed divorce and have been fighting.
We have two grown children but fear hurting them and alienating them. It is one of the reasons why my wife has not left me.
I have returned to the sacraments and have been praying every day and receive Communion often and go to confession often. My wife is so far away from God right now. She is resentful, and she has mentioned not wanting to be the wife of such a devout Catholic, and yet she has made mention of her impending damnation. She is struggling.
Today, she told me she has been suffering severe anxiety and wants this all to end. She is giving me and the other guy two months. Then, she’ll decide on one of us or neither. All this time she has been very vague about her intentions but has made very clear to me that she wants to divorce me and doesn’t love me as much as she loves this guy. But I love her, although it is very difficult. I bear responsibility for the problems of our marriage and want so much to make this marriage the sacrament that it was supposed to be. I want her to return to God, with or without me, and I pray for her peace with God and peace of mind.
Today, I will start a 54 day rosary novena to coincide with our two month journey. I pray that she hears God’s voice and makes the decision that He wants and that the demons that have haunted us will flee. I will ask Saints Jude, Rita, Mary Magdalene, and Monica specifically to pray with me. I know there are many of you out there that have suffered or are suffering from similar problems, and I will keep you in my prayers. If you feel your spirit move from this plea, please pray with me and for us.
Thank you. God bless you all.
