Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

For Help in Trials

Most holy apostle St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor who delivered your beloved Master into the hands of His enemies has caused you to be forgotten by many. But the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of hopeless cases–of things despaired of. Pray for me who feels so hopeless. Make use, I implore you, of that particular privilege accorded to you of bringing visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolations and succor of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, in particular (LMU and his Wife), and that I may bless God with you and all the elect throughout eternity. I promise you, O Blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, and I will never cease to honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to do all in my power to encourage devotion to you. St. Maximilian, amidst the hate and lonely misery of Auschwitz, you brought love into the lives of fellow captives and sowed the seeds of hope amidst despair. You bore witness to the world by word and deed that “Love alone creates.” Help me to become more like you. Day 16 of my novena. My wife and I are co-existing. Really strange getting ready for Christmas not knowing if this will be our last together. Trying to offer up this doubt and dread to God. He knows what we need better than we do.

Brothers and sisters, today I begin the 4th novena and pray my rosaries in thanksgiving. I pray that I have the faith and confidence in God that this novena calls for.

I realized yesterday that the 54th day of this 54-day novena is on the day that my daughter returns to college. So, it seems that the novena ends neatly on the day that my wife and I can truly begin to settle this issue. A few days later is the day that would mark the end of the two months she asked for, if I were to be specific.

I am feeling very troubled knowing that things may play out in a way that hurts me and hurts my children. I pray for God’s mercy, but most of all, I pray that my wife open her heart to God and ask for his mercy, forgiveness and healing. I know my actions lead to consequences and just punishments, but I am consumed by the knowledge that my wife is so far from God and that if we were to separate, she may not want to return to Him. I can only hope that in staying with me, if she chooses that, that I would be able to bring her back to the Lord, but that would also be a very challenging task. But it is the one I pray for.

My 4th novena ended with a very disturbing and morale-sapping conversation with my wife. Christmas was very difficult for me, and my children are wondering what is going on.

My wife seemed on the verge of telling me it was over, but when I asked her if she had chosen, she still said she didn’t know.

My heart has been beating harder and faster over the last week. I feel so defeated. My sins of failure in my marriage have truly come back to haunt me and my family. I so regret having played into Satan’s hands.

And my wife is so far from God. I have been praying for her conversion much more fervently lately. In many ways, I think that is what I should be praying for rather than to save our marriage. I do pray that God will have mercy on me and use my marriage to heal our wounds and bring my wife and my children to Himself, but that isn’t my call, obviously.

Please pray for my wife. 5th novena prayer was said this morning.
