Hi , I was just wondering what everyone has on their prayer table
and when do you use it ?

I have a crucifix, a statuette of Our Lady, a couple of pictures of Saints (St Therese and St Teresa) and a prayer written in illuminated script.

I say something called the Liturgy of the Hours, these are Psalms and Bible readings which are said several times a day by nuns, monks, priests and some lay people. I say these sitting in front of my prayer ‘shelf’. I also pray silently twice a day, usually in front of it, I often light a candle when I do this. I do say these prayers elsewhere, but I find the association of that place with prayer helps me to focus better.

Are you thinking of having your own prayer table?

I have a rosary box w/rosaries inside, crucifix, prayer cards, candle, and a triptych of Mary with baby Jesus.

Hi yes I set one up today so I have a standing crucifix , candles, bible , picture of Jesus and a picture of Mary with Jesus etc

I have a small oratory:

So apart from the crucifix and the statuette of the BVM, mostly breviary and chant books!

Here I was wondering what a prayer table was…there is a little shrine in my lounge which appalls my non Catholic friends.

My prieu-Dieu has rosary,Christian Warfare, the Psalms and the Divine Intimacy to hand.👍

well i have now set it up but how can i show you the picture when i try and copy it it asks me for a url ?

Statuettes of Our Lady & my Patron St Benedict, The Divine Mercy and Sacred Heart pictures above, with a Byzantine style Virgin and Child set into oak (i love that peice), with 3 Bibles (DR, KJV-1611 and NJB) and the Monastic Diurnal for the Divine Office.
Here is my Home shrine (hope this loads)
Do you have a Priest come over regularly to say Mass? as you basically have an altar there, it just may not have been consecrated.

Corsair’s shrine would appall my Protestant family. and drive them to their knees in prayer for my soul. 😛

Its located just off of our bedroom. That makes easy to say my evening prayers before bedtime. I have two prie deaux set up before the Shrine.

So how can I upload a picture then ? All it says it copy the URL but you don’t have URL on computer files !

You can use an site that hosts images like imageshack.com.

Once you upload your picture there, you will be given a url of the location of that file, that you can paste.

Chuck1,
After you click “reply” you should find a small box near the bottom of the page that says"manage attachments". Click on that and you’ll get a small box that offers you “browse”. Click that and you should be able to get to your saved pictures on your computer. Just follow directions after that.

to Skeptic92,
No I have never had a Mass said at my house, although I have all of the items necessary, including a complete set of vestments (all colors). I also, have a relic of St. Pius X but no Altar stone.

Did you write to someone and receive them? I think its awesome!

I’ve just made an area of my room as a prayer area. At current there’s a small table with a crucifix above it, my Bible and my two sets of rosary beads, along with a picture of the Theotokos, a print of the Blessed Virgin and a couple of posters with verses from the Vulgate on them.

Constantine,
The relic was given to me several years ago. There is no documentaion with it so I’m assuming its not a 1st class. It is in a Theca with the seals intact and appears to be some cloth.

I was once offered an Altar stone but with no documents. It came from a small chapel that burnt down about 30 years ago but I declined at the time as I had no where to put it.

I’m sure the relic is in excellent care in your hands 👍
