Prayer for Prisoners
Lord, you offer freedom to all people. We pray for those in prison. Break the bonds of fear and isolation that exist. Support with your love prisoners and their families and friends, prison staff and all who care. Heal those who have been wounded by the actions of others, especially the victims of crime. Help us to forgive one another, to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly together with Christ in His strength and in His Spirit, now and every day.’

Father of Mercy, the secrets of all hearts are known to you alone. You know who is just and you forgive the unjust. You alone are the Almighty Judge. We are not worthy of judging anyone. Your mercy is enough for sinners. Hear our prayers for those in prison. Give them repentance and let them believe in you. NOVENA PRAYER FOR INTERCESSION OF SAINT RITA OF CASCIA

O holy patroness of those in need, St. Rita of Cascia, whose pleadings before our Divine Lord are almost irresistible, who for your lavishness in granting favors have been called the advocate of the hopeless and even of the impossible;

St. Rita, so humble, so pure, so mortified, so patient and of such compassionate love for our Crucified Jesus that you could obtain from Him whatsoever you ask; on account of which all confidently have recourse to you expecting, if not always relief, at least comfort; look with favor on our petitions, showing your power with God on behalf of your suppliants.

St. Rita, be lavish to us, as you have been in so many wonderful cases, for the greater glory of God, for the spreading of your own devotion, and for the consolation of those who trust in you. We promise, as our petition is granted, to honor you by making known your favors, to bless and sing your praises forever. Relying then upon your merits and power before the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we pray giving thanks that you will place our requests before God…

And that God will, through your intercession, Swiftly hear and answer us as He sees fit. Amen.

Where they are innocent, please console and bring about their freedom,
where they are guilty draw them to repentance and to resolution to be true Christians.
Grant that their good behavior results in light sentence or avoidance of imprisonment or early release

Their families, though not imprisoned, yet torn by the situation of their loved ones and the consequences, suffer very much with and for them.
Please give them strength, consolation, and hope.
Aid them where the legal costs impacts on their lives and incomes.

Dear Lord please keep all prisoners safe from harm. Please guide those that work with prisoners to treat them with compassion and dignity and fairness.Please watch over all prisoners and protect them from harm and guide them to lead fulfilling lives. Thank You Lord for hearing our prayers Amen

Dear Saint Anthony, I am imprisoned by walls of selfishness, prejudice, suspicion. I am enslaved by human respect and the fear of other people’s opinions of me. Saint Anthony, Liberator of Prisoners, tear down my prison walls. Break the chains that hold me captive. Make me free with the freedom Christ has won for me. Amen.
