Prayer thread for all Prisoners and their families

Bless all those on this prayer thread and all those who will be brought here. 1 in every 100 Americans are in prison and so Lord we pray for this country and its peoples - you know best what we need for healing and the end of this sad situation in this of all countries. We pray that the failures of our systems are corrected with true wisdom and without fear of doing the compassionate and long range and forward thinking good things needed to resolve this situation. Lord I pray that the men and women in prison have resources made available to all of them, even the most forgotten, to shine forth your gifts and to share those gifts with others. Help them to not become institutionalized mentally but able to grow and develop so that their gifts can help others and themselves. Help our society to see the need here and to do what is needed to bring down the level of the incarcerated and recividism - as an the educated and wise society we are meant to be.
Help politicians to not use the plight of prisoners unjustly, and help society to be wise in electing officials who see the long range benefit of bringing our incarcerated to wholeness so they can return and be productive in society.
And, please bless victims and their families in a special way, with Your consolation and peace. Help them know that they are not forgotten when we pray for prisoners or desire for justice and mercy for prisoners. Christ has compassion on all His people and the Lord’s sun and rain fall on all of his children.

Father of Mercy, the secrets of all hearts are known to You alone. You know who is just and you forgive the unjust. You alone are the Almighty Judge. We are not worthy of judging anyone. Your mercy is enough for sinners. Hear our prayers for those in prison. Give them repentance and let them believe in You. Give them patience and hope in their sufferings, and bring them home again soon. Comfort their near and dear ones. Let them trust in Jesus Christ and live with hope.

Amen.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
