Memorare (Prayer to Our Lady)
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

Before I pray today I’d like to share a thought.
For a number of years I joined some fellows on Monday evenings to visit a local prison inviting any interested prisoners to just come out and talk. What an eye opener.

This prison contained a lot of young men for whom this may have been their first incarceration. Others, not much older, were repeat offenders.
Being in prison brought them into a social environment where crime was generally applauded.
For many their first ride in a police car was a right of passage with their peers. For others it was a shameful experience. Rather than being detrimental, a stay in prison tended to encourage criminal behaviour. I also heard them speak of uncles, brothers, and even fathers who were in prison at the same time.
It is a horrible cycle. (One that the Canadian government wants to pursue!)

Keeping this in mind let us pray for them and their families:Holy Virgin Mary, there is no one like Thee born in the world among women.

** Daughter and Handmaid of the Most Highest King, the Heavenly Father, Mother of Our Most Holy Lord Jesus Christ, Spouse of the Holy Spirit:**

** Pray for us with St. Michael the Archangel and all the powers of Heaven and all the Saints before Thy Most Holy and Beloved Son, the Lord and Master.**

** Glory to the Father and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. **
Amen.

Father of Mercy, the secrets of all hearts are known to You alone. You know who is just and you forgive the unjust. You alone are the Almighty Judge. We are not worthy of judging anyone. Your mercy is enough for sinners. Hear our prayers for those in prison. Give them repentance and let them believe in You. Give them patience and hope in their sufferings, and bring them home again soon. Comfort their near and dear ones. Let them trust in Jesus Christ and live with hope.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

***AVE MARIA, gratia plena, Dominus tecum. ***
***Benedicta tu in mulieribus, ***
***et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Jesus. ***
***Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc, et in hora mortis nostrae. ***
Amen.
