Prayer thread for priests

I wanted to make a thread where we could pray for priests generally or for any specific priests (including bishops, archbishops, cardinals, Popes etc) who need prayers. It seems like we all know priests who need prayers.

To start, I pray for all priests and for the following priests specifically:
  • For all priests who have given me the sacraments at any point in my life
  • For Fr. F. , Fr. A. and Fr. T. who are all suffering from physical ailments at this time, for their healing and relief from pain. Also for Archbishop Chaput who publicly announced that he needs a knee replacement, that he can get that taken care of and return to good mobility.
  • In thanksgiving that another priest, whom I posted about in a different thread earlier this year, has completed his leave of absence and is now back serving his parish, and for Jesus’ continued help with his personal issue.
  • For all priests who give of themselves to answer questions and help people in person or on the Internet.
Prayer for Priests
Risen Lord, Jesus, You love priests with all your priestly heart. Hear my heartfelt prayer for all our priests. I pray for faithful and fervent priests; for unfaithful and tepid priests; for priests who labor at home and abroad; for lonely and desolate priests; for young and old priests; for sick and dying priests; and for the souls of priests in Purgatory.

Merciful Heart of Jesus, remember all our priests: Give them a deep faith, a bright and firm hope, and a burning love. I ask that in their loneliness, You comfort them; in their sorrow, You strengthen them; in their frustration, You show them that it is through suffering that the soul is purifed. Eternal High Priest, keep all priests close to Your Sacred Heart and bless them abundantly in time and eternity. Amen.
 
O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. x10

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
 
Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

A Prayer for Priests

O loving Mother Mary, Mother of Priests, take
to Your heart Your sons who are close to You
because of their priestly ordination and because
of the power which they have received to carry on
the work of Christ in a world which needs them
so much. Be their comfort, be their joy, be their
strength, and especially help them to live and
to defend the ideals of consecrated celibacy.
Lord Jesus, we Your people pray to You
for our priests. You have given them to us
for our needs. We pray for them in their needs.

We know that You have made them priests
in the likeness of Your own priesthood. You
have consecrated them, set them aside,
anointed them, filled them with the Holy Spirit,
appointed them to teach, to preach, to minister,
to console, to forgive, and to feed us
with Your Body and Blood.

Yet we know that they are one with us
and share our human weaknesses. We
know that they are tempted to sin and
discouragement as are we, needing to be
ministered to, as do we, to be consoled and
forgiven, as do we. Indeed, we thank You for
choosing them from among us, so that they
understand us as we understand them, suffer
with us and rejoice with us, worry with us
and trust with us, share our beings,
our lives, our faith.

We ask that You give them this day the gift
You gave Your chosen ones on the way to
Emmaus: Your presence in their hearts,
Your holiness in their souls, Your joy in their
spirits. And let them see You face to face
in the breaking of the Eucharistic bread.

We pray to You, O Lord, through Mary
the mother of all priests, for Your priests
and for ours.

Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

Thank you, Jesus, that Fr. F. who I had a prayer thread about before is recovering well from his broken hip. Please help him continue to recover and be able to keep serving his parish.

Thank you to Mary and Joseph and all the saints I have asked to intercede on behalf of him and the other priests who have been ill or injured, for all your help with prayers.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Bishop De Simone who passed away the other day, age 96. A WWII veteran and Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia.
Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and may perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace.
May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, rest in peace. Amen.
 
May we all remember priests are mortal, just like the rest of us, and NEED our support and prayers!

Praying for all holy priests, especially those most in need of help right now.
In Jesus’ Name I ask that He strengthen, guide, protect and bless these priests and that Mother Mary put her protective mantle around them all.
