Prayer to avoid scrupulosity

After decades of trying to rationalize my sins, I’ve been working in recent months to change my life and take responsibility for my sins. In this shift, I find myself slipping into scrupulosity. Please pray that I may be able to trust in Christ’s mercy, and that I might have the spiritual wisdom to distinguish between real sin and unintentional mistakes, and between venial and mortal sin.

Our Father, Who art in heaven Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
