Prayer to conquer sin

My brothers and sisters,

I just came back from confessing my sin to Jesus and receiving His forgiveness in the Holy Mystery of Reconciliation. Lately I have been struggling with a grave sin addiction that began a long time ago.

Thankfully, through Christ’s work in my life, the addiction is losing its power. Something my confessor pointed out to me today.

However this morning I chose to commit the sin again. I have been forgiven for this relapse, and I have firmly repented of the sin, making an affirmation to follow Christ even more closely than before. I don’t want to fall away from Him again!

In any case, I ask that you would pray for me brothers and sisters. Pray for me that the next time I am tempted I may holdfast to Jesus Christ, to His love and promises.

Comfort him as he realizes that additcion is broken through a process. Allow him to realize that he has made such progress. You are with us through sin and temptation. Guide us Father through Father

defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Defend me in the hour of conflict
Be my safeguard from the wickedness and snares of the devil
Do thou o Prince I humbly pray
Throw satan down to hell and with him all the wicknedess and snares of the devil.

Add to your prayers some good deep reading, of some saints like Saint Francis de Sales “Introduction to the Devout Life”, Saint Martin of Porres, Saint Agustine, just to name a few, …and fasting, in a healthy way of course.
