Okay, so I understand prayer to the saints, but my question is, can/do Catholics ever pray for intersession to OT figures who are in heaven? Like Moses, Abraham, or Elijah? If not, why?
Every one in Heaven is a saint! Why would you not be able to pray to any of them?Okay, so I understand prayer to the saints, but my question is, can/do Catholics ever pray for intersession to OT figures who are in heaven? Like Moses, Abraham, or Elijah? If not, why?
The OT Patriarchs and Prophets, such as Moses, Abraham, or Elijah, are saints. A Catholic can pray for their intersession. I believe that the Carmelite Order has a special devotion to Elijah, but I could be wrong.Okay, so I understand prayer to the saints, but my question is, can/do Catholics ever pray for intersession to OT figures who are in heaven? Ignoring, for a second, the unwarranted swipe at the intecessory power of the Blessed Virgin, I often hear this comment from Protestants about this verse (not that you’re a Protestant–your profile says “undecided”).If you seriously look at the prayers of those above, you will see that their prayers are at best immature. So, if the OT saints have been praying longer in heaven, you would expect their prayers to be more mature then those who have came lately…
What an odd way of look at the saints. Aren’t they all together and with God. How can age mean anything in heaven. Also, weren’t those in OT unable to be in the true presences of God until Jesus’ death on the cross? No one is saying you should pray to one saint more than another. If you want to pray to Moses than pray to Moses. I pray to our Lady, because who in Heaven can possible know My Lord more than His own mother? I mean come on she feed Him, nurtured Him, taught Him, rocked Him, cherished Him, etc. If I am looking for a little extra prayers who else would be more “mature” than Mary.Rev 6
9When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. 10They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?” 11Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and brothers who were to be killed as they had been was completed.

So, if the OT saints have been praying longer in heaven, you would expect their prayers to be more mature then those who have came lately. So, why pray to Mary, when you can pray to Elijah whoose prayers were already mature, even when he was still on earth?
