I don’t want to dampen your ardour at all, and I don’t want to judge what it is you are doing, honestly, I like your enthusiasm.

Only you know if my points apply to what you’re doing, though my comments were inspired by your description of what you’re doing. Then again my imagination may be in error.

I’m sure if you pray and ask for guidance you will be helped to discern when and where you might help best and in what way.

God bless and keep safe on your wonderful journey 🙂

Basically, what I do is place my blessed crucifix to their foreheads and pray over them. Praying for them while the grace of God flows from the blessed crucifix.

In one instance, I placed the crucifix on the foot of a woman over whom I was praying a healing prayer.
So where did this idea come from? Why can’t you just pray for them without them knowing? Even my priests do not do this, I am wondering why you feel this is the way to go. The crucifix is not some magical font from which graces flow. I would actually find your practice a bit strange, quite honestly.

Well, Irishmom2; you raise a good point. One reason why I do it is to check a person’s reactions to the sacramental. I look for signs of a demonic presence.

🤨

If you approached me with a crucifix you intended to press against my forehead I guarantee you I’d react pretty strongly to that. My reaction would not have anything to do with demonic possession I assure you!

🤔 I’m not meaning any harm. In my ministry, I have yet to encounter anyone not accepting the crucifix on their forehead. I also checked with my diocese’s chancery and they said what I did was okay.

Oh, where were you trained to detect demonic presence? I wonder if you told the chancery that little part of the equation.

What are the signs of demonic presence, and how many employees in Walmart have you found to have a demonic presence?

I’ve read An Exorcist Tells His Story and An Exorcist Explains The Demonic by Fr Gabriele Amorth, An Exorcist Explains How To Heal The Possessed by Fr Carlin. Also, I’ve read Deliver Us From Evil by Ralph Sarchie. Also, The Rite The Making Of An American Exorcist by Matt Baglio. I talked with the chancery about my experience praying over a demonically oppressed female co worker at Walmart. I’ve spent quite an effort to research, admittedly on my own; the signs of the demonic presence.

Beyond my own research, I have talked to the chancery and a CRM Brother who works deliverance ministry about the signs that I saw. I also talked to my priest about her as well and none of them told me I was wrong.

You should carefully check the HR policies of your employer to make sure you’re not endangering your job by harassing fellow employees. Also make sure that you are not forcing your religion on people you supervise. I would have a very low tolerance for someone trying to touch me or place a crucifix on me and would complain about their behavior.

I think in dealing with the demonic you are treading in spiritually dangerous areas. Reading a few books does not make you an expert and does not protect you against evil. I wonder if you have been completely open with your pastor and/or bishop about your activities.

For example, you said “I have talked to the chancery and a CRM Brother who works deliverance ministry about the signs that I saw. I also talked to my priest about her as well and none of them told me I was wrong.” Does “talking with a CRM brother” mean the couple of messages @crm_brother posted in another thread you started? If so, that is hardly an extensive consultation.

Checking the HR policies isn’t a bad idea. But why is it so hard for people to accept that a well read man with a sharp mind and common sense; who goes in line with the Church, his diocese and his priest can accurately discern the presence of the demonic? What do I have to do to gain this acceptance? Do I need to train to be a priest, go to Rome and be trained by the Holy Father and his chief exorcist himself before I gain this acceptance??

This is frustrating for me. I’ve gone through channels, read the literature, done my research and done everything I think a reasonable person can to learn what to look for.

Well, yes. That would be exactly what you need to do. As a Catholic, you don’t get to decide you know enough.

People don’t get to be doctors just by researching and reading 4 books and talking to other doctors online.

Either you do it the right way, or you don’t.

Ugh. I did what was expected of me. I went to the chancery and my priest. They all say what I’m doing is kosher. What else is needed: The devil to show up and announce that yes, Michael16 knows what he’s talking about?

I even was attacked by devil; a personal experience of face to face with evil.

Even a quick Google search will turn up the information that an exorcist must first be a priest and then must be appointed by his bishop.

I think you are toying with dangerous elements you do not understand.

Deep breaths. I’m sorry for losing my temper.

I’m not doing exorcisms. What I’m doing is praying over people as a layman is allowed to do. This is according to my priest, my chancery and everything I’ve read over five years.

What else should I do?

What else should you do about what?

It is as if you somehow think you are going to hang up a sign and be “official” somewhere and earn a living this way.

Have you had any college courses yet in anything?

I’m not trying to earn a living by my deliverance ministry. I’m not going to claim any credentials that I don’t have. Just living out what I believe is my calling in life.

I only have a high school diploma. But I’ll be studying for my associate’s degree next year. I’ll be studying to be a licensed therapist.

Oh, I thought on your other thread you said you wanted to set up a practice with your fiancé or something.

Deliverance ministry? What is that?

Yeah. I want to set up a space in my fiancé’s future massage therapy business for anyone who wants to be prayed over. Deliverance ministry is a lay ministry in which a person invokes Jesus, Our Lady, the angels and the saints to deliver people, without directly addressing, commanding or talking with the demon; from demons and to heal people. If things are bad, or an outright possession; we send victims to a priest.

That’s what I’m doing with my coworker.

Honestly, that strikes me as a strange connection. Better to just let her have her business and your interests separate.

Why’s that strange? The way I figure, people go to massage for healing and it’s a way to reach people who may need spiritual healing as well.
