I have been posting in the Prayer Intentions section of this forum and have a concern. For asking others to pray (prayer warriors) for some intentions, does that fall apart due to Matthew 6? It states that praying publicly is for hypocrites and is wrong. Am I misinterpreting it? I thought and still think it’s a good idea.

Jesus criticized those who pray publicly for show, to glorify, not God, but themselves. Your asking for prayers said privately, or even posted in good faith, certainly doesn’t cross that line.

Besides, if praying publicly were so wrong, how would you define you or me praying “publicly” at Mass for the intentions of that Mass?

No

No, that isn’t what it says. Those who pray in public in order to gain the admiration/attention of others and make themselves appear holy are hypocrites and pray wrongly.
Am I misinterpreting it?.
Yes
