Hi Nana 3,

I will keep her in my prayers as well. For her privacy, however, you might want to ask the moderators to remove the link. Since you have written a lot of personal information over the course of this thread, it is probably best not to identify her specifically, out of respect for her privacy.

I am sorry to hear about this and will keep her, and the rest of your family, in my prayers.

Sincerely,

Maria1212
You’re so right Maria and I am sorry. I did report it to the moderator just now. I should not have posted when I took some pain killers for my back. I was not myself and don’t even remember putting the link in and vaguely remember posting. I won’t do that again.

Dear Nana…reading your updates and keeping the situations in prayer…

Hello everyone,
I have some good news, at least for the kids’ sake. Norma received a call today from her ex. He told her that he left his wife and is getting a divorce. He said she is telling lies to her co-workers about him since he left. She is using the fact that he is leaving her at a bad time when she needs him. He finally admitted to Norma that she is not normal psychologically and is a very mean and vendictive person. He apologized to Norma for being so mean to her and the kids in the last two years. He told her that she had every right to hate him. NOrma told him that she did not hate him, but disliked his behavior to her and especially the kids who are emotionally scarred. He told her not to tell the kids yet, for he wanted to tomorrow when he saw them.

I want to say thanks so much for all of your prayers. This is indeed is an answer to our prayers. I think the ex is examining his own self and his part in all the agony he caused. This could be the beginning of a conversion for him. He did confess a lot to Norma and how his wife would make him do things against Norma and the kids. He said he feels bad about leaving his wife during her recovery from the beating, but that he could not take her anymore. He even told my sister that he felt better after talking to her. She encourage him to get his life in order and to turn to God for help so that he could be a great dad to the kids.

As far as news on the kids, they are both suffering emotional damage. My sister told me today that their behavioral therapist feels that both kids are suffering from post traumatic syndrome due to the abuse they endured at their dads. Luis will not be able to go to any normal public or private school for the counselor believes he will not behave according to the norm. My sister ran into a mother, who is now a teacher, she knew and she told her of a school that is a public school but that all the kids are emotionally disturbed. The class size is only 10 students per two teachers. She said they treat the kids great there. Norma is hoping and and praying that she can get him into that school affective immediately for the homeschooling is not working out. Marissa is suffering from depression and very very low self esteem. She crys at the drop of a hat and has mixed feelings for her dad. She mentioned today to her mom, how her dad had not called them all week. This bothered her. He did call today and now that he is coming to see them tomorrow, she is worried that he will take them out of their mom’s house. Norma had to reassure her that he was not taking them back to his house with his wife. I think they will be so happy to hear of him leaving his wife, who is not really his wife since he did not get an annulment. Luis is too young to know this, but Marissa does. She knows her dad was living in adultery. I can’t wait to be able to tell her how much the Lord loves her and that he indeed did answer her prayers.

Praise God! It’s a start. Maybe he could come up with some child support to show that he means what he says.

I understand about Marissa having low self-esteem. Luis’s anger has been directed outwards onto everyone but Marissa’s has gone inward, towards herself. This has been exasperated as Luis gets all the attention because he is out of control while she is quiet and trying to be good. I think that deep down, Marissa probably feels responsible for how she has been treated by her dad, that there must be something very wrong with her. It is hard to get it across to hurting children that they are not at fault for the problems of their parents.

I pray that Norma be given the wisdom and the strength to help her children heal from these wounds.

St. Mary Magdalen, pray for us.

Staying in touch with this thread and reading your Posts…Keeping the whole situation in daily pryaer…

Thanks Linda and Barbara.

The kids found out today and they are very happy. There dad just told them that he is separated for he told Norma today he is confused and may not get a divorce. He goes up and down. His wife is not playing fair, but he is finally seeing what he put my sister through by listening to his wife. She put a password on their bank account and she had her mom call her place of work about him leaving her. His wife’s captain called my ex BIL and told him that he better hope he never gets into trouble with the law in that county. It was a threat, if my ex BIL is telling my sister the truth. He wants a divorce, but is wanting some of his money back. He said his wife is suing the drunk driver who hit her while on duty and when she gets that check, he feels he should get half. He gave her all of his money when he divorced my sister. That is the money he got from the sell of their house. They went on cruises and etc. so he said she owes him. I think he is about to find out how evil this woman can be. I can’t believe he is so confused. He said he now understands what he put Norma through with the divorce for he admitted to her that he is an emotional mess. He has no access to his money for now. Norma advised him that he should open his own checking account with his current pay from now on. He is angry at his wife for now and scared as to what the captain meant.

Anyway, the kids are over joyed, but Luis has expressed sorrow for his dad and what he is going through. Marissa has not and has not talked about this to anyone. She is coming over here to my house tomorrow and usually opens up to me and I will just let her express her feelings. I agree Linda, that she holds things in. She did say more than once to me that she feels the divorce of her parents is something she did. I assured her that was not the case and that this was a problem of mommy and daddy and that they both loved her and her brother. She has had two and half year of emotional stuff that she has bottled up to deal with, but for now she is very happy her dad left this woman, but fearful that he will return to her. She told her mom one thing and that was this, “Mom, dad may go back to her for she is very manipulative.”

Some good and some bad news.

Good news first: Marissa and Luis had their dad visit today at my sister’s house. He had a blast with them just playing soccer in the front yard and tickling them and kissing them. He has not done this since the divorce. Norma said that her ex looked so happy and we all have not see that in a long time. The kids walked into the house after their dad left and said, “We have our dad back.” They were so happy. Marissa is actually looking forward to her dad picking her up tomorrow after school, something she has always dreaded. She looked so happy today. Also, he mentioned that he may get a new job and that he would be putting the kids on his medical insurance since they are on his wifes presently and she wants to get them off. He also said that a large portion of his paycheck will be going to Norma for child support. He wants to be more of a part of his kid’s life and told Norma this today. This is great news. He already looks more relaxed and without so much anger. Please pray he gets this other job that is full time and better pay than the part time one he has now.

The bad news: Luis needs immediate prayers. He has become so violent and today it was really bad. My poor dad actually cried for he has post traumatic syndrome from the vietnam war and can’t handle Luis’ anger. Today Norma had to leave work again to meet my dad at his OT appointment where he gets neurofeedback. The therapist had a long talk with Norma and didn’t know of all this bad behavior that Luis has been exhibiting. She is going to change things in the programming of the neurofeedback, but in the meantime, Norma is torn for the therapist told her that she is the best to care for her son and needs a stay at home job. The Occupational Therapist feels that Luis will not do well in the classroom setting but would in homeschooling. My sister needs a job for she is basically doing this on a single income and using my parent’s money. I told her to pray and the Lord would provide her a job, but she feels that she has to quit her job now because it is too much to put on my parents in their old age. My dad has had to double in medication in order to deal with Luis. We are all worried for him and my mom. Please pray that she gets a stay at home job so that she can attend to both kids who are suffering emotionally so much.

Praying Nana, at least some good news, hope the dad stays true to his word and keeps the promises he made to the children, and your sister:signofcross:

Good news re the children and their Dad and will continue to keep the whole situation in prayer…especially for Luis and Norma…

Update:

Luis continues to get better daily with his anger. The therapy for sensory integration is working. Yesterday, the dad showed up and picked up the kids and it was not good. He showed up in a brand new car, even though he said his mother bought the car, but she is not well off at all. We think, he could be lying, but can’t prove it. My sister is giving him until this Friday, tomorrow to pay child support and now it’s time to go to court. She has no pity on him after yesterday. The kids arrived from their visits and Marissa was very depressed. She was quiet, but after being home for an hour, she broke out crying and talked of what happened. Apparently, he was suppose to take Marissa to deliver her girl scouts cookies in his old neighborhood. He took the kids to his wife’s house to pick up more of his things. When they arrived his wife was asleep and he looked at the kids and said to them, “Be quiet and don’t make noise and if you do, I will give you this” (waving his fist). The kids went on the couch and did not move in fear. Their dad’s wife woke up and they argued and than he went to deliver the cookies. Marissa said he was very mean to her when they went door to door. She asked her mom with tears, “Mom, do people change?” She was disappointed for her dad was behaving like the dad they knew before he married this woman and today he was behaving like he did after he married her. He has not changed. Marissa doesn’t want to have anything to do with him for a while she said. Her heart was once again broken last night. When will this man see what he is doing to his kids? When will he grow up? I guess some people don’t.
