Prayer Warriors please help and others! Kids going on visitation

Nana, I prayed the Rosary at Adoration tonight and all I could think about was these poor children. Do you have a Green Scapular that they could have on themselves or they could leave in the house somewhere when they are there?
What about some Holy Water that they could take there with them and sprinkle it about their room or the house when the parents aren’t looking. It sounds to me that they need spiritual protection.
There is also a prayer for protection that you could teach them to say when they are feeling scared.

Holy Michael before me, Saint Raphael to the right of me, Saint Gabriel to the left of me, All you holy Guardian Angels behind me and the Precious Blood of Jesus all around me.

And another good prayer is the Holy Michael, the Archangel prayer.
I think these children need to know that God is there with them and as hard as it is for them to understand why they are in such a terrible situation, that God is there looking after them the whole time.
I will keep you all in my prayers, and I know this must be very stressful for you Nana, and you have so much else on your plate as well.

These are excellent suggestions Jules! Maybe they could also take rosaries with them, if they don`t already. They might feel comforted just holding it as they fall asleep.

Nana3, I will pray for you and your family at Mass today. The whole situation just sickens me and makes me so sad. I will pray the abuse stops. At least your husband knows he is being watched. I just hate that the courts and DCF are reinforcing his actions and warped thinking by saying he is doing knothing wrong. Definitely keep documenting everything. The kids doctors are still obliged to report all abuse. So even if they won`t listen to your daughter, they have to listen to medical professionls.

Thank your all for your prayers. Thank you Jules for your prayers at Adoration also. I love these little prayers. I know Marissa knows the St. Michael prayer, but Luis will learn it this year. I think I will submit the other prayer your gave involving all the Archangel and their Guardian Angel. That is short enough for Luis to memorize as well. I love it so much, I want my dh to know it too. Thanks for it. My dh knows the St. Michael one and at times when she is scared she says it. I just think that Norma’s children have a difficult time knowing that God loves their dad and their stepmom as well. Marissa is old enough to know that they are not really married since her parents did not get an annulment and has many questions already on that. She knows her dad is living in sin and sin has told me that she feels he is dragging them down with him. Quite perceptive of her, huh?

Anyway, Luis, struggles as well as Marissa between right and wrong for they know that lying is wrong and a sin, but admit they hear they dad and stepmom lying all the time. This last time that she was at her dad’s, their dad told them that their mother was so mean that she wants him in prison. He left out that he had to pay the child support he owed and only half and that it was the judges decision that if he not pay he goes to jail. This is what he does so much. He lied to DCF that no one in his household hits Luis with anything but his hand or her hand, again Marissa knows this to be a lie and so does Luis. They are being told one thing and watch their father do the opposite of what he should. I just tell them both that their dad loves them in his own way and lies because he thinks he will lose them forever. I tell them it is wrong and he needs lots of prayers from his children.

I will teach them this little prayer and see if they will take a Green Scapular with them to their dads, as well as Holy Water. I don’t know if they will use them for they fear their dad if they are caught. I know it bother’s Luis that he doesn’t have a crucifix or anything holy in his room or in their house at their dads. He has told me so. At his mother’s house, he has a both a crucifix on his wall and a cross with the guardian angel protecting a boy on it. He takes the latter cross and kisses it every night at his mothers. I have several crucifixes and will give both of them one to put in their backpacks to take out at their dads. I just hope that their 15 yr. old sister, who makes fun of Jesus and makes jokes about him, will not joke to them about it or they will keep it in their backpacks and bring it back home to their mother’s house. By the way, anyone who wants to join me in praying for the three stepsisters, who need it for they do not know Jesus, their names are: Ashley (18), Kristen (15) and Nicole (10).

If’s funny how you should mention that. The first time my niece told me that Kristen asked who was that man on the cross and she told her that his name was Jesus, God, I told Marissa that it may be God’s will for her to help these three girls come to know him. They are Catholic, but only go at Christmas and Easter. The sad thing is that Marissa, to fit in and not be ridiculed, will join in on making fun of Jesus. This is what Luis tells me and he is more sensitive on spiritual matters. He tells us that he will be a priest some day. I really hope an pray so. He is my Godchild. He is in a awful fight within himself and that is the anger. He tells me and my sister that he tries so hard not to get angry, but that when he is angry, he can’t stop.

I love the idea of a novena for the conversion of their dad, Angel, his girlfriend, Gayle, and her children, Ashley, Kristen and Nicole. Ashley is dating a boy who was from a Catholic Homeschooling group. He went to High School and met Ashley. She took Marissa to Mass on Easter Sunday when no one else in the household wanted to go. She has moved out because she can’t stand the fighting. I heard she moved in with her boyfriend’s family. I am sure the Lord will use that family to help this girl forget her terrible abusive childhood. She has told Marissa that she loves her mom, but hates who she is and doesn’t understand why God gave her a horrible mother. She is living now with her boyfriends’ family in an extra bedroom they have. That is all Marissa knows. She said she doesn’t come by to see her mom or sisters. By the way, all three of these girl have different dads. Kristen, according to Marissa, hates men and who can blame her. She has told Marissa that her mom keeps bringing different men into their lives. Nicole is just suffering. She is the one who had her hand burned by her mother. She cries for her dad and gets punished for even mentioning his name. She suffers a lot. Marissa is the same age, but says that Nicole is very immature. Norma has met her and agrees, but than Marissa is too mature for her age.

I like the idea of a Novena. How about St. Rita for she converted her husband and helped the town she lived in convert? Or can you think of a saint who is the patron saint for the conversion of sinners? Let me know. Great idea.

Please let me know what novena and when we are to start. I hope we can bring about some change in this situation.
Nana, please tell your sister and her children that there are people that really care about them, that haven’t even met them. This is what the Catholic faith is all about, loving others and trying to help with the most powerful weapon we have, prayer.
If you are worried about the parents finding the Holy water, can they carry it in a small drinking bottle, then noone would know? They can mark the bottle specially so they remember what it is and leave it in their bag.
And the children don’t have to wear the green scapular where it will be seen… twisted around an undergarment or something…

I think what Maria1212 said about these children being a witness to their father is exactly what their job is. Tell them that we all have a purpose, a mission and that maybe they have to pray very hard for their dad because he is so lost. Gently remind Luis that although he is young, he may have to be the teacher in this situation… a bit like Jesus teaching in the temple at the young age of 12. Some adults although they are grown, have not learnt God’s ways and need example.
And teach him that although his dad uses anger and abuse, we know better, because Jesus taught us that there is another way. And that although he is sad and angry inside that he must give that over to God and try to remain peaceful and calm.
Tell him to think of Jesus on the Cross, dying, in agony, physically and also because people who were angry and hated him put him there, people HE loved. Tell him to imagine himself walking his dad to the cross and looking up to Jesus and leaving him at Jesus’ feet… leave his dad with Jesus on the cross. This can be very helpful in getting him to let go of all the emotions he feels that he can’t control.
Nana, I am so sad about this terrible situation. We do our best to protect our children and when it is taken out of our hands like this is, it must be soul destroying.
I cannot imagine the enormous amount of stress you all must feel. I pray that God will give you all peace.

If they talk, if not too afraid, and disclose to the therapist of what really happens at their dad’s, the therapist has the right to stop all visitation for the dad. We need this miracle, but the children have been threatened by their dad and his wife not to speak of anything that goes on at their house. Please, please pray. Thanks so much.

I think we are about the same time. I posted not long ago (about 20 mins and then saw this) and it is now 7.30 pm. So its about the same time, give or take a half hour or so.

St. Mary Magdalen is fine with me. It use to be the parish that my niece and nephew went to with their dad at Christmas or Easter, sometimes. They have moved since. She does teach them not to lie, but unfortunately, they see how their father lies and how he gets away with it. They have learned this habit from him. In fact, when Marissa got in trouble for lying once to her dad for eating corn and was punished more than what the offense was, she told me, “I wonder where I learned to lie? It was daddy.” She said it with sarcasm. I told her that even if he lies, that is something he will have to ask God for forgiveness and she needs to follow the example of Jesus and not her father. I think she lies to protect herself from excessive punishment. Luis use to never lie, but when he told the truth he was beaten that now he lies because he sees how it prevents them from hitting him too much. Norma tries to get them to tell the truth always, but fear is a big factor in this situation and so is being a bad example as a parent to a child, as the dad is.
