I’ll be praying tomorrow!!!
Thank you Keri. I just got home from the hearing. First of all the judge would not listen again to anything dealing with the child abuse charges and suspension of visitation. He said it is the job of child protective services. Norma’s attorney told him what they said that they are waiting on his response and what he will do. He told Norma’s attorney to call them up again and tell them that it is not his job but theres. So nothing was done on that end and Angel gets to see his kids every other weekend. This weekend coming up is one of them.

The judge did reprimand the Angel, the dad, for not receiving all the certified letters that my sister sent him for a year now. They had the medical bills in them. Angel denied knowing of any medical bills. The judge told him that he didn’t know because he didn’t read the letters, but that was no excuse for he has a wife who could go and pick up a certified letter for him. He does have to pay the rest of the child support which is now $2950.00 by paying $50.00 a week until it is paid off, but has to continue paying his regular child support monthly.

This man lied so much on the stand that I could feel the evil in the courtroom. It was really bad. I started to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet while he was on the stand. I have honestly never seen someone lie so much in my entire life.

The judge at the end reprimand Angel and also reprimanded both my sister and him for they are causing stress on these children that “they claim to love.” That is what he said. Norma told the judge on the stand that she tries to talk to her ex but he hangs up on her. She emails him and he doesn’t respond. The judge is aware that the dad bears most of the fault of not trying to get along for the sake of the kids.

The judge also denied the motion for a Guardian ad litem for the kids. This would have given the kids a voice in the courtroom. He also denied a parenting coordination suggested by Angel’s attorney. He said he has not heard of any evidence that these kids are abused at their dads and DCF has not either.

For the kids sake, that decision by the judge was bad, but he is the judge. What can we do? We have to accept all this. We have to help the kids deal with their father and stepmother.

I don’t know what to say anymore. I do know that many saints in the past have had disappointment after disappointment and unfair evil things happen to them. It happened to our Lord. It all is part of God’s design and we just have to accept it all. I will not stop praying and persevering, but will accept this has his will for now. It is within the power of God to change or not. We have to remember the Serenity prayer. WE have done everything possible to change the system and we can’t.

Norma’s attorney does think that things went well today. She made Angel look like a liar and a father who is not interested in his kids despite what he says. The dad knew nothing of the children’s school or their policy. The judge found this despicable. He was also disgusted that the dad has yet to participate in counseling or know what is going on. The dad said he can’t get a hold of the office, but Norma’s attorney said if in the whole 8 months that the kids are seeing this one counselor, he has not been able to get a hold of them. He said yes. That made him look bad also.

Anyway, gang, I can’t possibly express the graditute I feel for all of your prayers, concern and love for these children, my sister and myself. Thank you again from the buttom of my heart. A great big hug for all of you. :grouphug: Please keep them in your prayers whereever the Lord puts them on your mind or heart. Please continue for the conversion of Angel and Gayle and Gayle’s children. They are so lost! I know and all of you know that the Lord loves them too. They need prayers or their soul will be lost forever.

Norma feels that she is losing her mind and yet she has been strong. Please keep her in your prayers. She is going to see a psychiatrist for medications to help her stay calm and not cry so much. She cried again today and wondered how much longer. She is beginning to accept things and will try so hard to get along with her ex, but it all depends on him again. She is very sad today though. Keep her in your prayers please.

Nana, I am sorry. I really have to say… I just don’t understand this one. I mean no offence or irreverance, but I don’t understand God’s will in this. But thats not for us to know. We don’t have to understand to keep trusting. You have a wonderful faith and are the support your sister needs. Maybe all of this pain and suffering is for their souls. (the father and step mother)
I am so sorry. I feel so sad. How many people have to see abuse but then pretend it’s not? How many people can witness the distress of these children and turn a blind eye?
What more?
But I won’t give up praying for them.

Thank you Jules. I will go to this email you provided and ask Mother Teresa’s intercession.

Today, Norma has an appointment with the kids’ counselor and Angel has agreed to go for he said he would try in court yesterday. I wonder how that is going to go? My sister is so emotional these days and understandably for she is tired of all this that has been going on for two years. I do agree with how you feel and honestly, at times, I feel the same way. I don’t understand the judge myself and in some ways I pray that we get another judge for they move them every so often. This is our second judge, the first was better than this one. This one does believe in corporal punishment, even if it leaves a mark. He use to be a DCF judge too. It is sad and he needs prayer. I could not believe when he said that he has not heard anything that would convence him that abuse is going on, after a PhD psychologist went on the stand and said the kids are emotionally abused in her opinion. It is remarkable and unbelievable.

Thanks for your continued prayers. Marissa woke up this morning a little upset of the whole thing for she did not want to go this weekend, but she has too. At least the dad will not be picking them up this week for a midweek visit because he can’t. I hope that stays like that forever.

Luis saw his counselor today and my dad took him. Marissa was also in the room with Luis and the counselor. He told the counselor that he wanted to kill himself. Then he said he would use his grandpa’s machete or his dad’s gun. I found out from Marissa that her dad does not keep his gun locked up, but is under his car seat, the driver seat. Luis is not aware, but when I asked Marissa how she knew, she said she found it one day when she was in their van. If she can find it, so can he.

My dad was called in to see the counselor without the kids and was told what Luis said. He told Norma and myself. Marissa is worried for she said he will kill her too. She told me that she wants to sleep with her door locked. The psychologist told my dad that we all need to provide a safe environment for Luis and keep a watch on him. Norma called her ex to tell him and all he said was “uh huh.” He said nothing about it and didn’t want to talk about it with Norma.

I don’t understand how the counselors don’t see that these kids are being significantly affected as the definition of DCF said on child abuse.

Dear Nana…Keeping all your concerns, worries and hopes in prayer with Our Lady of Good Counsel and of Good Remedy and also St. Joseph and St. Rita, patron of difficult causes.

I don’t understand how the counsellors don’t see that these kids are being significantly affected as the definition of DCF said on child abuse.
My brother, who lives in Florida, also has had dealings with this mob. His ex-wife was severely bi-polar. She was barely able to look after herself, much less a baby. She worked as a stripper and used to bring the baby to work with her. She drank heavily too and on the way back home one night put the van in a ditch. A passerby heard the baby crying and alerted authorities. No action from DCF. She had another episode, packed up her stuff and left with the baby. Got up to the panhandle and decided that she couldn’t stand the baby crying all the time so she asked the lady who ran the motel where she stayed to look after her while she went to the drug store. She never came back, just took off. The lady rang my mom and she and my brother went up to collect little Angela. These are just a few of the incidents. Despite her record of mental illness so severe she spent most of her time in mental hospitals and her record of abandoning the baby with strangers (more than once, we were lucky to get her back) and taking the baby to an inappropriate work environment, driving drunk with the baby in the car, the judge awarded them joint custody, 3 months with one, then 3 months with the other.

My brother’s ex then moved to California, derailing the judge’s joint custody ruling. My brother could not afford to pay for cross-country air flights four times a year so he was deprived of most of his time with his daughter. There didn’t seem to be problem about her moving to California as far as the judge was concerned. I believe the argument went - “I’m not denying him access. All he has to do is come to my house and get her.”

Florida’s bureaucracy in regards to child welfare seems to be a joke. Once, during one of her stays with her dad, the DCF showed up in the middle of the night, forced their way into the house, got Angela out of bed and took her to another room and interrogated her. She was about 5 and was absolutely terrified. She had problems sleeping for months after that and when she did sleep, she had nightmares. Good work, DCF.

Now, if they have the authority to bust into someone’s house without a warrant in the middle of the night on an anonymous phone tip, how can they not investigate Marissa and Luis’s dad with more evidence than a phone tip? What about the dad’s neighbours? Have they been asked if they have witnessed or heard anything?

I’m still praying. :gopray:

For Luis, Marissa and Norma, for Nana, for Angel, Gayle, Ashley, Kristen and Nicole.
For the authorities dealing with this situation; the DCF bureaucrats, the police, the counsellors, the judges, the attorneys, the doctors, the schools

Father, you see how this whole family is hurting. Reach into their hearts and touch them and turn them all to Yourself. Heal all the hurts and divisions. Let the truth be known and the children protected.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, One God, Now and Forever.
Amen

May the Holy Family be an example for them all.

Thanks Linda Marie. I am sorry to hear what your brother has gone through and agree that Florida’s protection of children is a joke. I know with my sister and her ex, who have joint custody, one has to be the primary person and I guess it was your brother’s ex. Legally, she was not to leave the state of Florida without the permission or okay of your brother. My sister wanted to switch the kids to a school that was only 5 minutes from her house and her ex said no. If she want to leave the state of Florida, her attorney has told her that she needs to tell her ex and she if he agrees and if she really had to leave for some important reason, like a job opportunity or getting married and her new husband lives up North, she has to bring it before the judge. Legally, your brother, has a good case, but maybe has had terrible judges and DCF case workers like my sister. Your brother could have gone before the judge and tell him what his ex did and they would have given him temporary custody and given him the paperwork. With that paperwork, he could have gone on a plane and legally gotten his daughter. If his ex wanted the child, she would have to come back to Florida for the hearing. At least, this is what we were told could happen if my sister leaves without the courts permission and has happened at least here in Orlando.

I hope your brother will get a lawyer that can do this for him and go get his daughter. I think it is so sad that kids really have no rights here in Florida. I agree, DCF could have talked with the neighbors and didn’t. My sister even told them to please talk to the kids counselor and they would not. If the counselor did not call them, they didn’t care to hear from her. I don’t understand the system here.🤷 It needs a lot of work!

Thanks Linda Marie. I hope your brother will get a lawyer that can do this for him and go get his daughter. I don’t understand the system here.🤷 It needs a lot of work!
He did go back to the judge, who ruled that the ex was permitted to do this, even though he couldn’t afford it. I don’t understand how it works either. I could be missing some information. They weren’t exactly forthcoming with all the details. Sure seems like the judges wing it and rule by how they feel that day. Maybe they use an Eight-Ball.

It is too late for Angela. Her mom had the morals of an alleycat and didn’t take a whole lot of (say ANY) precautions to keep her daughter from seeing her with her various men in the act. I worry that some of her ‘uncles’ took liberties with her too. It could explain a lot. Her mom married 3 more times after my brother so her home life has been more than somewhat dysfunctional. Angela is 26 now and her life is a complete mess. She is into piercings, tattoos, drugs and has married a bikie (her second husband so far). My brother made her take karate classes for self-protection when he was able. She continued these so now she is dangerous as well. She used to get into trouble a lot for fighting in school. Nothing has changed much. It is just a matter of time before the low-life she married gets her involved in criminal activities. The day after they married, he was arrested and extradited to another state where he had jumped bail on a previous offense. He’s out now and they’re back in Florida. Every time I call home, I’m dreading to hear the news that Angela is in jail.

When she was about 5, my parents tried to get my husband and me to take her, get her away from her parents (in truth, my brother wasn’t much better when it came to being a responsible dad). We told them we would take her if we could adopt her so that she would be our daughter and so that they couldn’t say “Oh, we want her back now” and return her to the mess we wanted to rescue her from. No dice. They refused. Such a shame. I continue to pray for her. It is about all I can do now.

For the people who are working this case at DCF, the school counsellors, the school nurses, the doctors, the teachers, the judges, the police, everyone in authority dealing with this. May the scales fall from their eyes and they see the truth about what is happening to Luis and Marissa and move to protect these children from further harm.

Incline unto my aid, O God.
O Lord, make haste to help me.
Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
world without end,
Amen.

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle;
be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares
of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray
and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host
by the power of God, cast into hell
satan and all the evil spirits who prowl through the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen

I am so sorry things did not work out for your brother’s daughter. It is ashame that they would not allow you to adopt her. We have a similiar case with my dh’s brother and their mother. My BIL got a girlfriend pregnant and he and she are still married to other people. anyway, once the baby came, my BIL had to do everything. His girlfriend was a slob to say the least. She was very lazy and would not even feed the baby. My BIL broke up with her and than went after for custody of the baby, except he was not a good person and has not paid child support to his wife for years. He also is an alcoholic and has three arest in his past all due to beating up on his girlfriends. Anyway, the day of the hearing, the judge did not want to give the baby, 18 months at the time, to either parent. He wanted my dh and I to take her, but we could not and so my MIL and her husband took her. My MIL is in her late 60’s and her dh is my age 42 yr. old. Anyway, they had her for 3 years and tried to get my BIL to allow them to adopt her. He fought them and it had to go to court. This time we helped our MIL to adopt this child. The dad had three years to get his life in order and take care of the child and never did. He visited her but that was it. I am so glad that he did allow them to adopt her. They were so afraid of losing her altogether. On the agreement, he gets to see his daughter once a month at our house, which is under supervision and after an alcohol screen at the local courthouse. He does this and he sees his child as much as before. We told him that his dd would always know that he is her daddy. He is very bitter and hates his mother. She is not a great mother and abused all three of her sons, but he knew this before agreeing to allow her to take his child into her home.
At least, my niece will get a better future than what she would have with her dad, whose first dd is pregnant at 15 yr old.

Thanks for your prayers. What happened to your brother’s dd is what we don’t want to happen with our niece and nephew. I don’t know when the state and government will see that shared parenting sometimes is not in the best interest of the child or children. All we can do is pray.

Currently the kids are with their dad this weekend and he will return them to school tomorrow morning.

Praying for God’s will.
:gopray2:
Yes, Amen to that. Thanks for your prayers.

UPDATE:
Luis yesterday, Monday, after a weekend with his dad, immediately upon the day starting went into the boys bathroom and locked himself in it. He would not open it. They had to open it with the key they have. He told the school counselor that he hates school. He has told his mother that he hates his teacher for she is mean like his dad. She is very strict and firm and yes mean. My dd had her too. That is her personality. It may not be what Luis needs.

Today, he got to school and did not want to go. My sister left him and they called her back to the school for he punched the teacher. We don’t know if he is welcomed back.

I have suggested medications to my sister, but she yelled at me when I mentioned the idea, but today the school counselor said it may be necessary to control the anger in Luis. He is to start Occupational Therapy for all these behavior could also be his Sensory Integration problems. If you look it up on the web, all these symptoms of anger and loss of focus in school and hyperactivity could be a Sensory Integration problem. He was treated for this before by a specialist and improved incrediably, but it is so very expensive and insurance doesn’t cover it and my sister’s ex refuses to pay half.

Luis needs your prayers. Norma was crying today when she called my parents to come and pick up Luis at her work. She just started this job two months ago and already has had to pick up Luis so many times at school. She may lose this job that she needs. She told me that she feels she is losing her mind for Luis is so very difficult to care for. She could use your prayers in these days. She cries at the drop of a hat too. She is suffering in all this, as well as her children.

May God bless and protect Norma, Marissa, Luis and all who are helping them. Amen.

Staying in touch with this thread and keeping all in daily prayer…

Update:
I thought some good news was needed. Our prayers for the conversion of the dad, Angel, must be working. Well, a new start to this terrible situation has come up.

My sister and her ex went to their first counseling appointment together on the first of October. That session did not go well with the dad showing a lot of excessive anger. The counselor put the fear of the possibility of losing his kids in him and he has been much nicer to my sister. He has called several times and she has called him twice because of their sons, Luis, behavioral problems in school and at home. Anyway, they had their second counseling appointment on the 11th, last Thursday, and it went very well. He is calmer and they discussed ways to help the children TOGETHER and not apart. They made an agreement that when the school needs to call one of the parent, they usually call Norma, that the school will be told to call their dad when it is a behavioral problem. The counselor wanted to see if Angel could control his temper and not go over board with the punishment for bad behavior from the son. I hope this works. Luis may just behave to so that he would not have his dad pick him up. He may test his parents and see if they will do this and it could be difficult once his dad gets a job, but he will find out that his dad will be there to pick him up and won’t be happy if he punches a teacher.

So this could be good for their relationship. I know that the kids are so happy that their dad is in counseling with their mom and trying to get along.

Luis situation is very delicate at school though. Some parents are starting to complain and it is a CAtholic school so they are upset that they pay for this school andathey have a disruptive child in the class of their children. If their is more complaints, Luis will be expelled. He is now in Occupational Therapy and they are hoping this will help him with his integration problems.

Update:
The kids just were at their dads this weekend. Their dad and my sister, since starting counseling, have been better in their communication with each other. Well that changed today. The kids are off today, Monday and tomorrow. They have to share the vacation from school equally, so he got today and my sister gets tomorrow, starting tonight. He agreed to bring the kids home at 7 pm tonight, but called my sister this afternoon and asked if she could come to pick them up at his house, which is one hour away. She said that he is suppose to bring them to her house according to the final divorce papers. He disagreed and asked if she could meet him half way. She agreed and he agreed. One hour later he calls her again and told her that if she wants them she can come and pick them up. They argued and she agreed for the sake of the kids for she talked to Marissa and she wanted to come home immediately. She told her ex to have them ready at 7 pm and when she got there, they were not ready. She called her ex and told him to have the kids come out. She waited and waited and ten minutes passed and they were not out. My dad was with her and he said this was childish and ridiculous. He went to their door and rang the door bell. No answer to that. He knocked and no answer, so my sister called her ex again and he admitted he was not home and would call to have them let the kids out. Ten more minutes went by and no kids. She called him again and told him to stop playing games and he admitted that his wife was with him too and the kids were with the oldest child the 15 yr. old. She told him to call the 15 year old to let the kids out and she knocked on the door while she had him on the phone. They opened and the kids came out 21 minutes after she got there.

The kids told her that something happened over the weekend. They first told her that their dad and Gayle were fighting for 20 minutes because their dad wanted to take them home and his wife said no to have Norma come out. Then when Norma agreed, she told him that they should go out. All this in front of the kids. She even yelled at Angel and asked why he was being nice to Norma. This bothered the kids who were so happy their parents were getting along.

Something else that happened was that Luis apparently ate some new food and his dad was not home. He face began to break out and he was itchy. He had “bumps” on his face. Marissa had to tell her step mom that it was an allergic reaction and she should give him Benadryl. She said no and that he needed a shower and “wash it off.” He took a shower and still had the problems and he came to her and she told him to get out of her sight and go to bed. Marissa was worried and kept an eye on him and his breathing. Thank God she has some common sense to do that. Marissa also told her mother that her and Luis have outgrown their shoes and when their stepmom bought new shoes for her daughter, she told them that they could stay with what they have. The stepmom had hidden some shoes that Norma bought for Marissa about a year ago. She took those shoes out of hiding and told Marissa that she could wear those. Marissa told her that the shoes were a size 2 and she is now a size 3. This woman looked at her and told her that she could “squeeze her toes in them.” Can you believe that? Luis came home with shoes in his backpack and said he hid his shoes in the backpack to bring them to his mother for they don’t fit and he said his dad and Gayle make him wear it. So he brought them home to give to the poor. Norma looked and they were a size 12. He is now in 13 1/2 size shoes. Unbelieveable!!

There is more and it was all verbal and emotional abuse. The kids said they don’t tell their counselor anything for nothing ever gets done. I can’t blame them for saying that for it is true. May Our Dear Lord have pity on them and do something soon to help these kids from abuse.

Father,I ask You to cause Angel to relinquish custody of the children completely to Norma. Let him leave their lives for good. No father is better than having one like this who will forever taint their hearts on who You are for them.

Through Jesus Christ, our Lord
Amen

St. Joseph, pray for Marissa and Luis.
St. Mary Magdalen, pray for them
St. Rita, pray for them

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Thank you Linda Marie and stove for your continued prayers.

Please keep Norma in your prayers also for she needs a lot of prayers to deal with her angry children. She is struggling and has to deal with Luis’ anger tantrum on a daily basis.
