Doing our prayer group meeting, the question came up. If God knows everything and knows the what our destiny is. Does prayer change his mind? Or does he know before hand that we are going to pray for a particular request. Does God change his mind?

thank you

The question is, do you want him to? and why? reflect

God’s blessnings,
Prayer doesn’t necessarily change God’s mind. Remember that prayer is a conversation between you and God. The point of prayer to move your will to conform with God’s. When that happens, we are able to see God’s will plainly in our lives and then our plans suddenly become crystal clear and, because they were discerned in prayer, we realize that they are in fact God’s plans.
Petitionary and intercessory prayer are wonder ways of praying; they are a realization that God is indeed incharge of every aspect of our existence. As we pray in The Lord’s Prayer; we only want God’s will to be done. Prayer is a way to discern what that will is.

In the Hope of our Risen Lord and Savior,

God is eternal and unchanging. That is His nature.

However, only HE knows “all” (and remember, He does not experience time the way we do, as past-present-future but instead as an eternal sort of “now”). It is entirely possible that in His omniscience He “knows” that someone will pray for something, and that He was, is, and will be answering the prayer, as He always DOES answer prayer. That does not mean that we have “made Him change His mind”. It means that He has chosen as always to will GOOD and that these prayers somehow tie into His will.
