Does prayer have to impress, beg or inform God to spur God into action?
 
No, no and no.

Prayer is conversation with our Creator. We are humble in His presence – how can we impress Him?

God doesn’t want us to beg, but to simply ask Him for our needs, remembering that He knows what is best for us and that He will never give us anything that will lead us away from Him.

How can we inform God? He knows everything?! Yet, He wants us to talk with Him, to share with Him our frustrations, our joys, our sorrows, as we would with anybody we love.

Prayer is not creating something beautiful for God to get His attention. It is not finding the right words to unlock the secret box of treats.

Prayer begins with being completely honest before God and with yourself. It should “express” our joys, sorrows, hopes, love, needs, anger, gratitude and praise. Use words if necessary. Keep at it. Be patient. Trust.

God may allow something unpleasant to cloud your life for your eternal good. (don’t ask me how, I’m not God - and may I say you are all lucky I’m not.) He may not remove it in answer to your prayers if that would not be for your eternal good, but He will give you what you need for your eternal good.
