I have a decision to make. On June 27th I need/want to be at two different places at once.
First: My BIL, Matt, is getting married here in MN. He is my favorite BIL, this is his second marriage and the whole family (DH’s side) will be there. They are all Catholic (in name)
Second: My high school choir is going to be having a concert in Utah. This will be our last chance to have a concert there as the school will be torn down later on this year…
So here is the dilemma…
I’ve recently been in contact with 2 of my cousins who I haven’t seen since childhood. We’ve been talking on Facebook and have started making plans for a family reunion. This might not seem a big deal to most. These cousins are my Mom’s side of the family. Some of us have gone through tremendous hurts and alienation with our Parents. (my Mom, and two of her three brothers) We have been planning it around my choir concert. That week, in fact. I’ve invited them all to attend the concert and my cousins and I thought this might be a good start in healing some of the hurts of the past or just plain putting them to rest so that we can all move foreward.
In December, my oldest sister called me out of the blue to tell me that Mom was having surgery. There was a mass in her stomach that was taken out and she is now going through chemotherapy. She’s 75. As most of you know, I’ve had little to no contact with either my Mom or my sisters for the past 15+ years. I don’t know exactly how much longer my Mom has to live and I’d like to have my kids introduced to her at least before she dies. I can’t say if this is something urgent or not, but I have been praying that God would open a door for a LONG time. Things seem to have fallen into place for this reunion to happen…( they’re all Mormon as far as I know)
Please pray for me that I will discern what it is that God wants me to do. If He isn’t the one orchestrating any of this, I don’t want a part in it.
Also… any thoughts you want to share with me please do.
