Prayers against doubt and lust

Going through a dark patch right now. Every few years I seem to really doubt my faith. Temptations to lust always seem to follow, especially at night when I don’t really have anything external to occupy my mind. I’ve been able to fend it off so far, but it’s pretty strong.

This usually happens before a major life change, or when I don’t have a lot of time around other people, and since I’m between jobs, in the middle of a career change, and only taking one class, it’s hitting me pretty hard.

Make use, I implore you, of that particular privilege accorded to you of bringing visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. St. Maximilian, amidst the hate and lonely misery of Auschwitz, you brought love into the lives of fellow captives and sowed the seeds of hope amidst despair. You bore witness to the world by word and deed that “Love alone creates.” Help me to become more like you. With the Church and Mary and you, may I proclaim that “Love alone creates.” To the hungry and oppressed, the naked and homeless, the scorned and hated, the lonely and despairing, may I proclaim the power of Christ’s love, which endures forever and ever. Amen.

Praying you may have your faith strengthened and virtue, as well.
 
Praying that your doubt may turn into trust in our Lord. Praying you may be given the strength to resist temptations regarding lust.

Eternal, Holy God, I come to You burdened with
worries, fears, doubts and troubles. Calm and
quiet me with peace of mind. Empty me of the
anxiety that disturbs me, of the concerns that
weary my spirit, and weigh heavy on my heart.

Loosen my grip on the disappointments and
grievances I hold on to so tightly. Release me
from the pain of past hurts, of present anger
and tension, of future fears.

Sometimes it’s too much for me Lord -
too many demands and problems -
too much sadness, suffering, and stress.

Renew me spiritually and emotionally.
Give me new strength, hope, and confidence.
Prepare me to meet the constant struggles of
daily life with a deeper faith and trust in You.

I hear you. I’ve been there before. The devil, or maybe the world, or maybe just our own hearts sure do seem to tag along with and capitalize on other sins, don’t they? : (

I pray that your transitional period will bring you closer to God, especially in this Holy Week. I pray that your mind will drift to holy and Godly things and that the Lord will grant you the grace necessary to overcome any intrusive thoughts that get through.

Don’t be discouraged by doubt. Even Mother Theresa struggled with it and so did St. Therese of Lisieux I think. You obviously don’t doubt too much since you’re here, right? : )

REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
