I spoke to a very smart man today…I talked to him about my life and how sometimes I feel that everything bad happening to me is because of my past behavior and the feeling of not being a good mother, sister or daughter…his advice to me was that I need to love myself and forgive myself…how do I do that?

PATER NOSTER,
qui es in caelis,
sanctificetur nomen tuum.
Adveniat regnum tuum.
Fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo et in terra.
Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie,
et dimitte nobis debita nostra
sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris.
Et ne nos inducas in tentationem,
sed libera nos a malo. Amen.

I don’t know who that very smart man is, but you should speak with a priest regarding how you put love and forgiveness into action in your life.

God bless you, and know that you are in my prayers.

Dear One, Many have traveled this road. Go to confession and poor your soul out. Be truly sorry and you will leave exhausted and joyful. Make time for Our Lord everyday. You will be amazed at the change in yourself and your life. God bless you.

**Blessed Mother, please intercede for us.
Hold the sorrowful, strengthen the fearful,
mother and love the weary, abused, neglected
or forgotten among us,
give your aid to all needing help or healing,
assist those who are sick, in pain or suffering,
be with those needing peace,
console the lonely or brokenhearted,
comfort the lost or hopeless,
guard the unborn,
pray for those who are dying or who have died,
soften those with hardened hearts,
enlighten those who do not yet see truth,
help us be brave enough to let our hurt and anger go,
show us the way to do the right thing,
protect those who are in danger,
and guide us from every evil.
May all who keep your sacred commemoration
experience the might of your assistance.
Amen :gopray2: **

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace.
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
As it was in the beginning,
is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

Praying for your intentions.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

By relying on God’s forgiveness and mercy, making use of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and receiving the Eucharist with your whole heart. 🙂

From divine mercy.org:

*. Jesus said, "I am mercy itself for a contrite soul”. Without contrition, trust would be arrogance and presumption.
How do we grow in trust?

Ask to be transformed into His mercy, like Saint Faustina. Ask Mary to teach you how to grow in trust, as she had to. Remember the essential condition for receiving Divine Mercy, is trust.
The nearness of God’s mercy and His closeness to us can be experienced, especially at times in history when the Church is really suffering, and when there is a threat to the purpose of our existence and the meaning of life, and this is why, in the situation of the Church and the World today, many individuals and groups are being guided to the Mercy of God.
All of us on this planet are pilgrim people on a journey to eternity.
Let us pray that during the journey to this Sacred place, all people in the world will have an encounter with Divine Mercy, because God wishes to transform each and every one of us on this earth into living icons of His Mercy.
Remember: He offers His mercy and His peace to all who trust in Him. *

Have you ever heard the 12-step slogan “let go and let God”? I think you should write down every sin that you still feel unforgiven for. With that, go to confession. Be candid with the priest with everything on the list. He will absolve you:

God, the Father of mercies, through the death and resurrection of his Son has reconciled the world to himself and sent the Holy Spirit among us for the forgiveness of sins; through the ministry of the Church may God give you pardon and peace, and I absolve you from your sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son, + and of the Holy Spirit.

After that, you can really “let go” of any guilt because our Merciful God will handle the rest. Amen.

The best way to go about this is to look at Jesus on the cross and remember that He died for you too, so that if you are truly believing and remorseful(sacrament of reconciliation, prayer, fasting, eucharist), that you may be made a new person in Him. He did this because He loves you and all of us. That is incomparable and we owe Him our lives; so don’t fret about your past and look to the cross and what He has done for us. If He loves you that much, then don’t you think you are able to love yourself and give back?

Also, bad things happen to everyone, even the good. Someone told me that it is a blessing because these experiences teach us to become better and stronger in our devotion and faith to Jesus. It is part of being sanctified.

Furthermore, give the best of yourself to your family by being in the moment. Don’t think of the past nor to far in the future. Just love what you have today. The bad stuff will go away. God Bless.

Prayer is really the best resource we have for the types of difficulties you are having with forgivness of self. In your meditation and prayer, (which I recommend doing in front of the blessed sacrament), it may help to read and reflect on a couple of scripture passages. As I said, I recommend a trip to the blessed sacrament at your parish. Pray these passages from scripture slowly, and deeply reflect on their meaning. Remember that you are a child of God, just like everyone else, and that you too need to be on the list of all those you forgive.

Romans 8:35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will affliction, or distress, or persecution, or hunger, or nakedness, or peril, or the sword? 36 For thy sake, says the scripture, we face death at every moment, reckoned no better than sheep marked down for slaughter. 37 Yet in all this we are conquerors, through him who has granted us his love. 38 Of this I am fully persuaded; neither death nor life, no angels or principalities or powers, neither what is present nor what is to come, no force whatever, 39 neither the height above us nor the depth beneath us, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which comes to us in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you that labour and are burdened; I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon yourselves, and learn from me; I am gentle and humble of heart; and you shall find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Matthew 5:5 Blessed are those who mourn; they shall be comforted. 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for holiness; they shall have their fill. 7 Blessed are the merciful; they shall obtain mercy.

Phillipians 3:13 No, brethren, I do not claim to have the mastery already, but this at least I do; forgetting what I have left behind, intent on what lies before me, 14 I press on with the goal in view, eager for the prize, God’s heavenly summons in Christ Jesus.

Psalm 103:12 far as the east is from the west, he clears away our guilt from us.

1 John 1:9 No, it is when we confess our sins that he forgives us our sins, ever true to his word, ever dealing right with us, and all our wrong-doing is purged away.

God bless and keep you…

Prayers for you and your intentions:

Ave Maria, Gratia plena
Dominus tecum,
Benedicta to in mulieribus,
Et benedictus, fructus, ventris tui Jesus

Sancta Maria, Mater Dei,
Ora pro nobis, pecatoribus nunc,
Et in hora mortis nostrae.

Amen

Oh My Jesus, Forgive us our sins,
Save us from the fires Hell,
And lead all souls to Heaven,
Especially those in most need of they mercy,
Amen
