Hi everyone,

This is my first post on the forums, but I have browsed them for many years. I appreciate all the work you do, and I am writing to request your prayers (and guidance) for me.

Simply put, I am struggling. Over the past 4 months, I went from being excited about the future to wondering how I will get through each day. In July, our family’s dog, who has gotten me through so much over the past 7 years, developed a life-threatening blood disorder. Last month, I began my first “real” job, which currently leaves me feeling bored and unfulfilled. This past week, I saw a doctor for a second opinion on a minor, non-threatening issue, only to discover that I may have other health problems. And yesterday, I came down with my second cold in a month, which has caused me to miss work and stay in bed all day.

When I step back and look at these events “objectively”, I realize that they could be much worse. I am blessed to have had such a great friend for 7 years. I am lucky that, aside from minor issues, my family has been healthy. I am grateful that I have a job at all.

But I feel so exhausted. I feel physically, mentally, and spiritually drained. Practically every moment of every day, I worry about what could happen to my dog - every week there seems to be a new point of concern with his tests. I get only a few hours of sleep, and when I am not at work, I spend most of my night taking care of things around the house and getting ready to do it all again the next day. I’m nervous about what could be wrong with my health.

I apologize if that is more detail than necessary. But as I said, I’m struggling. Ever since my dog’s problems started, I’ve made it my goal to become a better person. I’ve been to confession more in the past 2 months than I have in the past 8 years. I finally learned to pray the rosary. I’ve put more faith in God than I ever have before. But how can I come to not worry so much about my dog, my health, and my work when they are so important? How do I find peace among this overwhelming difficulty?

Please say a prayer for me. Whether for strength, faith, clarity, courage, peace… I appreciate them all, as I surely need them. I will do my best to pray for all of you, too.

Thank you.

O Lady of Mental Peace,
Mother of Tranquility and
Mother of Hope,
look upon me in this time
of disquiet and weakness.
Still my restless spirit,
teach my searching heart to know
that God’s love for me
is unchanging and that the suffering
which He may will for me now
is to draw me closer to Him.
Let thy gentle peace and His —
which the world cannot give —
be always with me, that I may
be sanctified: and then:
I beseech thee
for the grace to bring this
peace to others.
Jesus, My Savior, I give myself
entirely to Thee through Mary:
Our Lady of Mental Peace,
pray for me!
Amen.

**Holy Immaculate Mary,
help all who are in trouble.
Give courage to the faint-hearted,
console the sad,
heal the infirm,
pray for the people,
intercede for the clergy,
have a special care for nuns;
may all feel,
all enjoy your kind and powerful assistance,
all who now and always render and will render,
you honour,
and will offer you their petitions.
Hear all our prayers, O Mother,
and grant them all.
We are all your children:
Grant the prayers of your children.

Amen forever.**

Friend!
You are right -count your blessings!
Your dog is still with you!
You have a job that gives you an income! (So many without jobs or good pay in the world).
God has a plan for you in that job.

Leave your dog in Jesus hands and don’t worry.
Say: ‘Jesus, if you can, heal my dog and keep her alive as long as possible. Thank you Lord!’
Also: I have asked God that all my pets will be in Heaven with me, and I KNOW God can do this, nothing is beyond His power. Is says in the bible, ‘I make ALL things new.’ ‘the Lion will lie down with the lamb.’ ‘ALL creation is groaning in birth pangs for the New Heaven and New Earth.’ ‘there will be no more death, no more pain no more sickness, no more suffering .’

I read a near death experience of a man who while he was dying saw his favourite pet dog (who had died years before) near him and patted him.

I believe you will get to spend an eternity with your dog in Heaven.

This earth’s only a pilgrimage.

Positive thinking deliberately-train your mind, don’t think negative, count your blessings about what you are good at at work.
God works all things for the good of those who love Him.

Think of St Joseph from the Old Testament, he was sold as a slave, ended up in prison. Not fun. But - God worked all that for his good. He became head of pharaoh’ house and saved his own brothers in the famine. Our crosses are given for powerful life changing reasons of GOOD later down the road.

Praying for you from today’s Liturgy of the Hours:

God our Father,
the contradiction of the cross
proclaims your infinite wisdom.
Help us to see that the glory of your Son
is revealed in the suffering he freely accepted.
Give us faith to claim as our only glory
the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
–Amen.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Praying for you to be relieved of your concerns.

Memorare

REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Praying to the Holy Spirit to give you guidance, direction, strength, fortitude & wisdom in your time of need.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee

Hi everyone,

I wanted to stop by to both say thank you for your previous prayers and to again request your help.

In the weeks that followed my initial request, things did get “better”. I may not have noticed it in the moment, but looking back, I am confident my prayers and yours for me were answered. My family was blessed to have a relatively peaceful and joyous Christmas and New Year, and for that I am so grateful.

Unfortunately, I think I became too comfortable in this “normalcy”, and began to fall back on some personal progress I had been making. I know this happens to all of us as humans, so I want to get back on track. On top of that, I am still so scared of what could happen (such as with my dog, whose health continues to be a bit of a roller coaster), and I can’t help but worry that those challenges are “punishment” of sorts. I don’t believe God does that to us, but sometimes our feelings can seem to overpower our faith…

Again, thank you all so much for your prayers and support. This is truly a special place.

Offering thanks for your improvements and praying that the Lord may continue to grant you and your family all necessary graces. Also praying for the good health of your dog.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen

Eternal Father,
I offer you the Body and Blood,
Soul and Divinity,
of Your Dearly Beloved Son,
Our Lord, Jesus Christ,
in atonement for our sins
and those of the whole world.
