Does anyone have any suggestions of prayers to pray while at work?

Here’s my situation…I’m in a job where I work for someone who is very uncaring and not sensitive to things such as having to be off for a death in the family, sickness, or even vacation. We’ve been told that we cannot under any circumstances take off for anything on certain days (even though there are plenty of employees who can help if one of us has to be out) and we are one day expected to work overtime and the next we are told that we cannot have anymore overtime. Very exhausting and confusing. I’ve been at this job since graduating college in 2002 and I am currently working to get my M.Ed. in Teaching/Counseling so that I can do that.

I would like a prayer that is fairly short so I can tape it on my computer and read it a various times throughout the day to help me through the day.

Thanks all!

Prayer for the Workplace

My Heavenly father, as I enter this workplace
I bring your presence with me.
I speak your peace, your grace, your mercy,
and your perfect order in this office.
I acknowledge your power over all that will be spoken,
thought, decided, and done within these walls.

Lord, I thank you for the gifts you have blessed me with.
I commit to using them responsibly in your honor.
Give me a fresh supply of strength to do my job.
Anoint my projects, ideas, and energy so that even my
smallest accomplishment may bring you glory.

Lord, when I am confused guide me.
When I am burned out infuse me with the light of the Holy Spirit.
May the work that I do and the way I do it bring faith, joy,
and a smile to all that I come in contact with today.

That above prayer is beautiful and I like it but I also think that you should just pray right from your heart to Go. Tell him everything that is on your heart and soul.

I do that too but sometimes its just hard to find the words.

Thank you so much. This is a beautiful prayer!

“Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place my trust in thee, no matter what befalls me Lord, nor dark the hour may be.”

This is great. I never thought of the Sacred Heart. I may can find a small picture to print off as well.

Even though the person i work for is the way he is sometimes, he doesn’t mind us having religious items on our desk. Thank goodness!

I find it helpful to say short prayers throughout the day, such as:

Jesus, I trust in You.

Mother Mary, pray for me.

All for the glory of God.

St. Michael, defend me in battle.

Father, protect your child.

Come, Holy Spirit.

Is there some way you can get a different job? It sounds quite stressful at your work.😦
God bless You.

It is really really stressful and it has even taken a toll on my health (i’ve developed terrible acid reflux and I have terrible female problems if you know what I mean).

I’m working on getting a new job. I can teach with an alternative license so I’m trying to get that.

By the way. Thanks so much for all the prayers. You guys are great. Right now I’m looking at a picture of the Sacred Heart and I have the prayer Barbara Therese gave me under it. Its on the top of my computer and I have a short prayer I found on EWTN on the bottom. *(Lord, help me to remember that nothing is going to happen to me today that You and I together can’t handle) * As soon as I have the others printed off they’ll be there too!

My work situation isn’t identical, but I too struggle daily. I have this (among others!) taped to my computer:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.”

Even though each day is difficult and I don’t want to be where I am, this brings comfort. I also have, hanging alongside the pictures of my husband and daughter, a picture of the Divine Mercy. When I get overwhelmed, I look at it and it reminds me He is with me, right in my cubicle.

AngelRose - you have so many good suggestions here. All of them are beautiful. Maybe make some little cards up with a prayer on each, and change them throughout the day. Or perhaps just one word, “Jesus,” is all you need. He is the Word and meaning of all our prayers. Maybe you could get one of those small rosary bracelets. So many prayers to choose from and all good, as long as you focus on Him.

yes, everyone has been so good. I’ve got a rosary in my desk drawer and I have virtual rosary on my computer so I use that sometimes. Today I went to our Blessed Sacrament Chapel at church during lunch and that helped some too. you guys are really great!
