Update: As of Friday 8/3/18 Aiden has had his new internal shunt surgically inserted. Recovered to the point where all but the nasal gastric tube have been removed. He still has IV access. The NG tube (nasal gastric) has to remain for a while as the shunt empties into the gastrointestinal tract and is being regulated to get the correct flow rate to drain cerebral spinal fluid at the correct pace. This is a high tech shunt in that it can be regulated remotely via ultrasound and magnetic intervention and not by internal manipulation. Late yesterday afternoon he was transferred from the Pediatric Neural-Surgical Intensive Care Unit to a step-down unit. It is a typical looking child’s hospital room with additional monitoring and related devices.
He wants to get out of bed but his legs are weak from being in bed so long. Post surgery pain is still present but being dealt with. He is playing with toys in bed and chattering with his visitors. His Mom says she has noticed that his left hand and arm (which was weak before this all happened) is stronger
and he is using it more!
Thank you all so much more than I can put into words! Your prayers helped to give us a miracle from God. I have always trusted that but it has moved Aiden’s thankful parents closer to belief and returning to God. Thank you again. God bless you all!
