2.5 weeks ago I was diagnosed with a fairly debilitating disorder, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS)… basically my autonomic system is out of whack and it takes me about 3 x’s more energy to stand up that for people who don’t have this disorder. My pulse rate jumps when I stand, I have horrible headaches, and am in danger of fainting everytime I stand up (not fun to have as a Catholic! :D)… and there are just some really other debilitating and frustrating symptoms that go along with this. This is not fatal, though there are times that it feels like it is.

I also will be seeing other specialists, because I believe that I have another underlying, and potentially life-threatening, condition that is the cause of the POTS. I need prayers for strength, perserverance, patience, and courage… especially right now courage and patience, because the wait of making appointments, seeing doctors, having tests done, waiting for results…etc will be a very anxiety ridden time for me.

Loving Lord, help datingtrappists persevere in illness and be strengthened by your grace; ever filled with hope and faith in the knowledge that You are with us in our weaknesses, strengths, illnesses and health… no differently… close to us, with us, in us. Amen

It is a shock, I know to find you have a serious illness. The headaches and dizziness must be very unpleasant and I hope you will find ease for your symptoms soon.
I’ve found that the tests are never as scary as one thought they would be, and I pray this will be your experience.
God grant you companionship and support as you go through the processes and the waiting, and when you receive any treatment that may be required.
God bless you.

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen

I want to thank everyone for their prayers… I have had a few rough days, physically and cognatively (I can’t remember a darned thing right now… I’d write everything I need to remember down in a notebook, but I’d probably lose the notebook, too). Your prayers and encouragment are very much appreciated!

The specialist (a geneticist who will see if I have Ehlers-danlos syndrome) that I’m seeing next week, luckily, won’t have very unplesant tests… I just have to show her how flexable I am and a quick blood test. I am needing, though, to also see a gastroenterologist (GI), and with the symptoms I’m having, I’ll need to have scopes performed. I am worried about how the anesthesia (even the “twilight sleep” stuff) will react with me, especially since I haven’t received any since I have become so sick… so worried in fact that I will be receiving the Sacrament of the Sick before the procedures.

I’m trying to remember St. Pio… “Pray, hope, and don’t worry”, but it can be so hard at times when the room is darkening due to lack of oxygen to my brain, and I’m so tired that I can barely walk from my bed to the bathroom. I offer it up as best as I can, which doesn’t feel like so much most of the time.

Glory be to The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be
World without end

Amen
