I met an elderly lady Thursday who’s brother (her only surviving relative) passed away Wednesday morning.

We talked for about half an hour, and she was crying.

As an asperger’s person, I’m not always very good at being sympathetic, but - in this particular case - it wasn’t hard to genuinely feel very bad for her and really try to do something positive, yet appropriate to try to console her.

She was visiting from out of town, and she needed a place just to be at peace. I knew of a very good local Franciscan Shrine in a nearby rural community that has always seemed the perfect place to reflect and pray, so I recommended she go there for awhile. She was so distraught, I also gave her my cell number in case she needed anything at all, like just to talk or something. After a few hours she did call back me to let me know visiting the Shrine helped.

She was obviously still very upset, and, even after more than half of a day - I cannot help but feel very badly for her. So I was just wanting to ask people to pray for her. Please keep her - and other people like her - in your prayers.

Somehow I think the best thing to do is ask the Angels for assistance in these matters.

The counsels of an Angel can let us know there is a glorious and heavenly life beyond the worldly existence we all know here. What lies beyond is unknown to us, but her brother is most likely very much at peace after what was a very long-lived illness. And, while I didn’t tell her this (although, painfully, she knows it herself), she too will be there in awhile. No one likes that part… having to pass over… because it separates us from the one’s we love… even if only for a time… But, like Jesus said, it’s only for a little while… and - when we reach the other side… when the time of our sojourning here is completely fulfilled… We find hope in Christ to see that special light of God shining in its eternal splendor before us forever…

That seems worth remembering. I am only a human, though. My words cannot prove to be as strong as those of an Angel.

So - again - I think an Angel should send her the love and support and consolations she needs to strengthen her faith in the afterlife and all its goodness.

It would be worth posting a prayer for it.

God’s blessings to you all. And, if you have read this far, thank you abundantly for your kindness and charity.

Prayer for the Grieving

Father of all mercies and God of consolation, You
love us eternally and transform the shadows of death
into the dawn of life. Look upon our grief; be our refuge
and comfort so that our sadness and sorrow may turn
into the light and peace of Your Presence.

In dying, Your Son destroyed death; in rising, He restored
life. Grant that at the end of our earthly pilgrimage we
may be found in His company with our brothers and
sisters. There, You shall wipe away every tear. We ask
this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Rest in Peace

Eternal rest grant unto this lady’s brother, O Lord.
And let perpetual light shine upon him.

And may the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Father please console this woman. May she be at ease knowing her brother is at peace. May her brother serve in you in your kingdom forever. In your name, Jesus amen!

Condolences…
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, Fatima, AMEN!

I pray that God comforts her during this difficult time. May He grant her entry into the Kingdom of Heaven as well. Amen

Praying for this lady’s brother to rest in God’s peace, and for her to be consoled in her sad loss. Praying for you too, that you may be blessed for your kindness to this lady.

for her peace and the soul of her brother

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us. Lord, hear my prayer for this persons intentions and have mercy on the whole world. (x10)

I did pray a decade of my daily Divine Mercy Chaplet for your intention.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.
