Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us!
Our Lady of Perpetual Help, pray for us!
St. Joseph, pray for us!
St. Peter Claver, pray for us!

I visited the family last Sunday & also yesterday. Sunday was planting grass. Bought a sack of garden grass & soil. The soil is pretty heavy & have to drag it to their house a long way. Fortunately, there were 2 sacks placed, so only 1 of the sack had a hole after dragging it.

The grass was planted that Sunday, but planting vegetables will be done next week.

Just made a quick visit last Tuesday. Brought some chicken wings for their dinner.

Most Holy Apostle, St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the Church honors and invokes you universally, as the patron of hopeless cases, of things almost despaired of. Pray for me, I am so helpless and alone. Make use I implore you, of the particular privilege given to you, to bring visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolation and help of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings, particularly (please intercede for me & for the family that I am helping with) and that I may praise God with you and all the elect forever. I promised, O blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, to always honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to gratefully encourage devotion to you. Amen.

St. Cornelius, pray for us!
St. Cyprian, pray for us!

I visited the family last Sunday. Never made gardening though. The typhoon pulled the monsoon winds so it rained hard. The grass I planted is alive, however.

There is sufficient rice. The container used for the rice was changed. From their old rusting can to a new plastic pail.

Dogs… sadly one of the 5 month old dogs died a few weeks back. From the 3rd batch of Fenris, only one was given away & I don’t know what happened to him (all puppies were boys). From Nancy, her brother died last July & her daughter, Belle, we kept & is still alive.

Fenris’ 1st batch daughter, Akira, who had a different owner, has moved house. Nancy looks like her. She will be missed. She’s also pregnant as well.

Still no TV signal. Rice cooker is busted weeks back, so they’re back to cooking rice using firewood. There is an electric stove (uses much electricity) & induction cooker (not used to cook rice though), however.

At present, plans for a better container for water is on the works.

I don’t mean to be rude or anything negative but has the family thought of getting their pet dogs neutered and spayed?

Prayer to the Child Jesus recited every evening in the Sanctuary of Arenzano in Italy

O Holy Child Jesus, who shed Your blessings on whoever invokes Your name,
look kindly on us who kneel humbly before Your holy Image,
and hear our prayers.

We commend to Your mercy the many poor and needy people who trust in Your Divine Heart.
Lay Your all powerful hand upon them and help them in their needs.
Lay Your hand upon the sick, to cure them and sanctify their suffering;
upon those in distress, to console them; upon sinners,
to draw them into the light of your divine grace;
upon all those who, stricken with grief and suffering,
turn trustingly to You for loving help.

Lay Your hand also upon all of us and give us Your blessing.

O little King, grant the treasures of Your divine mercy to all the world,
and keep us now and always in the grace of your love! Amen.

St. Francis, the little poor man of Assisi, we invoke you as the admirable mirror you were of our Divine Master. You imitated Christ the Lord in your humility and obedience. You faithfully followed Him in poverty and weakness. With joy you accepted suffering, contempt, and trials for the sake of His Name. In your goodness, help us, then, to imitate your example. By your power with God, obtain for us the special favor we now seek through your intercession (state your special intention). Please Pray for prbarrera as he is Praying and helping a family who is in great need.

Please pray for us, gentle and happy saint of the poor, that we may always be loyal followers of Our Savior, Jesus Christ, and filled always with divine riches. Amen.

A Prayer for the poor by Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Make us worthy, Lord, to serve those people throughout the world who live and die in poverty and hunger. Give them through our hands, this day, their daily bread, and by our understanding love, give them peace and Joy. Amen

Official Prayer of the Group for the poor

Dear Lord,
We lift up to you the poor and the marginalized.

We know that these are your cherished ones, that you are a God whose heart cries out for justice, that you are a God who longs to feed the hungry. We ask simply, Lord, that you give us your heart.

Fill us Lord with your compassion, give us your eyes to see, give us boldness and selflessness and wisdom, so that we too might cry out for justice and feed the hungry, so that your light might shine throughout the earth.

Lord, we especially lift up the children among us who are poor and marginalized, finding themselves in circumstances they did not choose and helpless to change. We lift up AIDS orphans, children of war, children suffering abuse and neglect, children smitten with malnutrition and disease, lacking education, housing or the most basic of life’s necessities. Might they somehow come to know the love of their Creator, who knows each hair on their head and collects their tears.

Lord, you know every wretched tale. Every overwhelming statistic, you know personally, one by one. Thank you that one day you will make all things right through your Son, Jesus Christ.

Until that day, let us be tireless in doing what is good and what is right unto the least of these, knowing the Father’s love for them. Amen

As for goforgoal’s inquiry, there was no discussion about neutering or spaying the dogs.

Basically, when puppies are able to eat solid food, they are given away to those who are willing to take care of them. Well, this doesn’t happen all the time.

On the first batch of the dogs of the main female dog (Fenris), one of her pups was given away. Eventually, the owner got tired of taking care of the puppy, & lived again in their house. Sadly, the puppy got sick & eventually died.

The second batch, only 3, Nancy & JV are part of the family, while Randy is owned by their neighbor, just beside the house.

Even one of the dogs of the 1st batch, Akira, temporarily stayed with the family since her owners moved to a new house far away. She was eventually picked up after the move.

In private veterinarians, having the procedure done is somewhat expensive (especially there are 5 dogs in their family). For the city veterinarian, I am not sure if cost is minimal. One way or the other, you have to travel each dog one at a time & at a scheduled manner.

Visited the family yesterday. Got them 2 water containers (holding each 5-6 gallons, I think), so the 6 liter water bottles they kept as water storage will be reduced.

Also bought a transistor radio. At least they can listen to the news. I’ll bring batteries soon, just in case there’s power failure (like during a typhoon).

I know I’m way too advanced for this, but we’re stocking up some foodstuff in preparation for Christmas & New Year. Just bought along pasta with long shelf life. Just in case food prices increase in a few months (demand & supply rule).

The breadwinner of the family has a bad back. I hope he goes to a physical therapist soon…

I visited the family last Tuesday & Friday. They’re all doing well. The breadwinner had 2 therapy sessions already, to fix his bad back. He might go back to work soon.

As for the neutering/spaying of dogs, well, there was a local news article here about it. It even mentions PAWS (Philippine Animal Welfare Society). For a female dog, it’s about US$ 35.00, for a male dog, almost US$ 25.00. Quite expensive indeed.

Visited the family yesterday. Before that, sad to say, our 14-year old female dog in the house was put down by my parents. I am in disagreement in doing so. She’s just old, not frail/weak. 😦

TV is still not functioning right, even if I made my troubleshooting. Cut the plastic wire to make the copper wire longer at all ends, still bad signal. Reprogrammed the channel menu (which is tough since the TV has Korean characters/letters), still no good reception. Just audio, no moving pictures.

The son had completed his therapy, but it seems his doctor wants to have him wear a brace for his back. In addition, the physician wants to have him take an MRI. His private health coverage from his work doesn’t cover MRI. Most probably the Social Security & government insurance won’t cover that either.

I told him to get a second opinion about this…

Visited the family this afternoon. Cleaned the windows, swept the floor, did some garden trimming. The old father is filtering the water & had the 5 gallon water containers used.

Still stocking up ingredients for the coming Christmas season. According to the news, prices may start to rise soon. Had the ingredients for the fruit salad ready. Recipe for the spaghetti needs only the cheese & the meat for the sauce. Of course, that would be best bought in December.
