Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us!

Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us!

St. Joseph. pray for us!

St. Ambrose, pray for us!

Thank you. I was able to attend Mass for 2nd Sunday of Advent earlier. However, I have fever since morning. I drank medicine & had rested before going to Mass. I alos left apostolate materials in my Parish.

I’ll have to rest early, since I’ll do the best I can to attend the Mass for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception at a town where I do apostolate as well. I hope I can attend either 4 PM or 5:30 PM. The Archbishop will be presiding Mass at 7 PM.

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Praying the fever will pass quickly.

Holy Mother, please come to the aid of this family. Please comfort them and ask our Lord to provide for all of their material and spiritual needs.

Please ask our Lord to send angels and friends to encourage and strengthen our friend prbarrerra in this work. Amen.

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, hail, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve: to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus, O merciful, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Amen.

Well, the fever has left before lunch. I was able to do my personal apostolate & attend the Fiesta Mass in Immaculate Conception Parish (vestments were white, but readings were in 2nd Sunday of Advent though). I was able to visit the family on a short notice though. The consolation, there’s spaghetti for Christmas! 🙂

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us!

Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, pray for us!

St. Joseph, pray for us!

PRB I was a little confused about Dec 8. I went to the co cathedral in downtown Houston for Sunday Mass today. Father Lawrence said we celebrate the feast of the Immaculate Conception on Dec 9 instead of the 8 it is a Holy Day but not a day of obligation day Dec 9.
We celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe today the 8th in downtown Houston the feast day is the 12th. There is a mass with Archbishop Daniel Cardinal Di Nardo at the convention center. But like the 8 the Hispanic community will celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on the 12th then the posadas start.

Continued prayers for you and the work you are doing for the family

God Bless

77stanthony77, honestly, I was terribly confused with what happened to me last December 8. Even my consultation with friends in the archdiocesan liturgy weeks ahead, I was still somewhat confused.

The Ordo & some research of mine did state that a Sunday of Advent is priority should a Solemnity (such as the Immaculate Conception) would fall on a Sunday. Then the Solemnity takes place on the next day.

From how I understand it, the Parish was possibly erected on a December 8, hence, Immaculate Conception was her patroness. The priest’s vestments were white priests (1 presider & 1 concelebrant), yet the readings (in English language) were taken from the 2nd Sunday of Advent. This is where I went bothered, since I already attended the 2nd Sunday of Advent Mass on a Saturday 5 PM, on the local vernacular/dialect of the province.

The commentator did remind of the December 9 that there will be a 2 Masses for the Immaculate Conception. “Hope you would attend” was the keyword by commentator, though.

There could be folks attending the Mass (7 AM & 5:30 PM), but the turnout I cannot tell since there’s still school & work for many.

Even here in where I live, there wasn’t even a Mass held on my home parish, for the Immaculate Conception. I visited the parish this afternoon & the schedule say’s “NO OFFICE” (parish offices mostly close on Monday here) at the whiteboard.

I privately read on the readings for the Immaculate Conception, however.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us!

St. Juan Diego, pray for us!

77stanthony77, reading your text again:

.

I did some research again. This was based on the Archdiocese of Manila (www.rcam.org)
25 November 25, 2013
Dear Brother Priests, Religious, and Lay Faithful in the Archdiocese of Manila,
This year, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception falls on the Second Sunday of Advent. Since the Sunday Advent has precedence over the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, the latter’s liturgical celebration is transferred to December 9, 2013, (Monday).
We would like to clarify, however, that the faithful who will go to Mass on December 8 fulfill the holy day of obligation required of them for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, even if the Liturgical celebration on that day is the Second Sunday of Advent. What is transferred to December 9, 2013 is the liturgical celebration of the Solemnity of Immaculate Conception and not the observance of the holy day of obligation, which is retained on December 8.
We are issuing this clarification guide to our faithful in the proper observance of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, the Patroness of the Philippines and of Manila, and in the fulfilment of their holy day obligation.
We continue to entrust our people and our beloved country to the powerful intercession of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, source of unending help and protection.
Thank you. May God bless you always.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
(signed)
+Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle
Archbishop of Manila
Therefore, I did fulfill my holy day of obligation (Philippines has 3: December 8, December 25, & January 1), plus my Sunday obligation (the Saturday 5 PM Mass).

I guess I don’t have to worry much anymore. Furthermore, I guess this is the position of my Archdiocese & other [arch]dioceses as well here.

Prayer to the Child Jesus recited every evening in the Sanctuary of Arenzano in Italy

O Holy Child Jesus, who shed Your blessings on whoever invokes Your name,
look kindly on us who kneel humbly before Your holy Image,
and hear our prayers.

We commend to Your mercy the many poor and needy people who trust in Your Divine Heart.
Lay Your all powerful hand upon them and help them in their needs.
Lay Your hand upon the sick, to cure them and sanctify their suffering;
upon those in distress, to console them; upon sinners,
to draw them into the light of your divine grace;
upon all those who, stricken with grief and suffering,
turn trustingly to You for loving help.

Lay Your hand also upon all of us and give us Your blessing.

O little King, grant the treasures of Your divine mercy to all the world,
and keep us now and always in the grace of your love! Amen.

St. Francis, the little poor man of Assisi, we invoke you as the admirable mirror you were of our Divine Master. You imitated Christ the Lord in your humility and obedience. You faithfully followed Him in poverty and weakness. With joy you accepted suffering, contempt, and trials for the sake of His Name. In your goodness, help us, then, to imitate your example. By your power with God, obtain for us the special favor we now seek through your intercession (state your special intention). Please Pray for prbarrera as he is Praying and helping a family who is in great need.

Please pray for us, gentle and happy saint of the poor, that we may always be loyal followers of Our Saviour, Jesus Christ, and filled always with divine riches. Amen.

A Prayer for the poor by Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Make us worthy, Lord, to serve those people throughout the world who live and die in poverty and hunger. Give them through our hands, this day, their daily bread, and by our understanding love, give them peace and Joy. Amen

Dear Lord,

We lift up to you the poor and the marginalized.

We know that these are your cherished ones, that you are a God whose heart cries out for justice, that you are a God who longs to feed the hungry. We ask simply, Lord, that you give us your heart.

Fill us Lord with your compassion, give us your eyes to see, give us boldness and selflessness and wisdom, so that we too might cry out for justice and feed the hungry, so that your light might shine throughout the earth.

Lord, we especially lift up the children among us who are poor and marginalized, finding themselves in circumstances they did not choose and helpless to change. We lift up AIDS orphans, children of war, children suffering abuse and neglect, children smitten with malnutrition an disease, lacking education, housing or the most basic of life’s necessities. Might they somehow come to know the love of their Creator, who knows each hair on their head and collects their tears.

Lord, you know every wretched tale. Every overwhelming statistic, you know personally, one by one. Thank you that one day you will make all things right through your Son, Jesus Christ.

Until that day, let us be tireless in doing what is good and what is right unto the least of these, knowing the Father’s love for them. Amen

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

Most Holy Apostle, St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the Church honors and invokes you universally, as the patron of hopeless cases, of things almost despaired of. Pray for me, I am so helpless and alone. Make use I implore you, of the particular privilege given to you, to bring visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolation and help of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings, particularly (please intercede for me & for the family that I am helping with) and that I may praise God with you and all the elect forever. I promised, O blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, to always honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to gratefully encourage devotion to you. Amen.
