A friend asked me to put her priest friend, Fr. Jim, on our prayer list. He has a perforated intestine due to Diverticulitis and is having surgery for it in May. The hard part is leaving his parish in the hands of an elderly priest and having to return to his family (mom and siblings) to be cared for. His family is full of drama, emotional neediness that he was sent to another diocese to escape–just what he doesn’t need but there’s nowhere else for him to go. So, please keep his health and mental well-being, as well as his family in your prayers. Thank you all. ❤️

Praying for Father Jim, for his surgery and recovery, for a peaceful and holy environment to convalesce in. May he feel the presence of Jesus and the angels at his bedside.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

†

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

†

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Prayer for a Miracle

God of all creation, you who spoke a simple command and brought forth light from
the darkness, I ask you now to send forth your miracle-working power to heal Fr. Jim. You cleansed the lepers, opened the eyes of the blind and by
speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.
You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from
the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into Fr. Jim’s body and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

***Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death
Amen.

Prayer for a Sick Priest

O Sweet Jesus, Eternal High Priest,
look favorably upon Thy priest Father Jim
whom sickness has cast upon a bed of pain.

Draw near to him, lay Thy hand upon him, and heal him by Thy Almighty power.

Restore him to health and vigor so that praising Thee he may be able to continue to labor in promoting Thy greater honor and glory and the salvation of souls.
Amen.

Almighty God, who gave to your servant George boldness to Confess the Name of our Saviour Jesus Christ before the rulers of this world, and courage to die for this faith: Grant that we may always be ready to give a reason for the hope that is in us, and to suffer gladly for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

UPDATE: Fr. Jim is having a colonoscopy to see if surgery is needed. His condition has dramatically improved, thanks be to God and your prayers. So, please keep those prayers coming! 😃

Oh, that’s wonderful news! I’ve been adding him to my prayers each day when I pray for the other Priests on my list. Thanks for the update!

Another update: He is taking a new antibiotic and his surgery is postponed for six to eight weeks in hope that he will be healed without surgery. Isn’t that great? Keep those prayers coming everyone! 😃
