Can u guys say a quick prayer. I have ruined my life through pride, selfishness and addiction. I have recently been made aware of my sins and I have only gotten worse! I don’t have contrition even though I know I should and feel like I’m going to send myself to hell. I’m so stubborn!!!

Praying to the Holy Spirit to give you guidance, direction, strength, fortitude & wisdom in your time of need.

Praying for you.

You might also find it worthwhile, at the stage you are in, to read and reflect upon Pope Francis’ tome entitled “The Name of God is Mercy”. One of the chapters addresses situations similar to yours. 🙂

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because of Thy just punishments, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who art all-good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of sin.
Amen.

[SIGN][/SIGN]Praying for your intention. I recommend going to see a priest in the Sacrament of Reconciliation (regularly). Even if you have imperfect contrition that is enough for forgiveness there. You don’t necessarily have to feel anything. Just confess your sins to God, and ask God to help you by giving you grace to sin no more. The mercy of Jesus in Confession involves two parts, the forgiveness of your sins and the grace and direction to avoid future sin. Jesus knows that change can be slow and he loves you where you are at now. Be patient with yourself and look to Jesus, not yourself. For you can not change yourself. Jesus says we can not do anything apart from him. You have great reason to hope in Jesus, for those who hope in him will not be disappointed.

When we go to Confession we are not going there to prove our contrition. We are going there to meet Jesus, the person. We are going to receive healing and mercy, and allow him to change us, rather than us trying to change ourselves. God knows our hearts. We can’t hide anything from him. So there is no sense in pretending before him. So the only one we can fool is ourselves. We have to go before him honestly and ask him to give us the grace to change our hearts. God bless.

Divine Mercy Chaplet

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!
O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!
O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Hail Mary
Full of sorrows,
The Crucified is with thee.
Thou art pitiable amongst women,
And pitiable is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus,
Holy Mary, Mother of the Crucified,
Obtain for us,
The crucifiers of thy Son,
Tears of contrition;
Now and at the hour of our death.

O Blessed Virgin Mary, Immaculate Mother of God, who didst endure a martyrdom of love and grief, beholding the sufferings and sorrows of Jesus! Thou didst co-operate in the benefit of my redemption by thy innumerable afflictions and by offering to the Eternal Father His only-begotten Son as a holocaust and victim of propitiation for my sins. I thank thee for the unspeakable love which led thee to deprive thyself of the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus, true God and true Man, to save me, a sinner. Oh! make use of the unfailing intercession of thy sorrows with the Father and the Son, that I may steadfastly amend my life and never again crucify my loving Redeemer by new sins; arid that, persevering till death in His grace, I may obtain eternal life through the merits of His Cross and Passion.
Amen.
Mother of love, of sorrow, and of mercy, pray for us.

Praying the novena prayer to Our Lady of Mount Carmel for you. You might like to pray it, too.
O most beautiful Flower of Mount Carmel, Fruitful Vine, Splendor of Heaven, who brought forth the Son of God still remaining a Virgin, assist us in this necessity.
O Star of the Sea, help us, and show us that you are our Mother.

O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and earth, we humbly ask you from the depths of our heart to help us in this necessity. There are none who can withstand your power.
O show us that you are our Mother.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee. Sweet Mother, we place this cause in your hands. Amen.

Thank you so much guys!!! I really appreciate all the prayers and advice I can get. I have just gotten so low, its hard to get back up. I used to have a very strong concept of sin and a desire to avoid it but I had been so focused on doing what I want in the past few years- full of pride, stubbornness, defiance–anorexic- emotionally shut off from everyone- that I didn’t even care as I was losing it. One day I was just overwhelmed with the belief that if I didn’t change, I was going to go to hell—I really didn’t want to think about it I was just overwhelmed with it. I suddenly lost my anxiety surrounding my anorexia but was instead overwhelmed with anger—all of my sins that I had effectively buried during my teens also began to overwhelm but instead of feeling sorry I got angrier and turned myself away from god. Instead of not eating- I began to eat everything out of anger- even others ppls food and until im sick. The worst part is that I know God will forgive but only if I choose to let Him and I have it stuck in my thick head that Im so proud I won`t let him. This is the first year I haven’t given up anything for Lent even though it is the year i need it the most and i keep eating everything and doing what i want. I gained at least 20 lbs and am not frightened by it I suppose some of it could be related to eating disorder but even larger of late has been total pride and selfishness-i feel like such a monster- i don’t have anxety anymore but i used to have OCD–I don’t know if this could possibly be related to these issues if I no longer have anxiety. grrr I know I think too much about myself too 😦

Just the fact you are asking for prayers, and wanting to let God in in some way is amazing and beautiful.

Small steady steps. It’s easy to get down on ourselves and I suffer from Anxiety and OCD and it makes everything that much more magnified.

God will forgive everyone who just comes to him and ask sincerely for forgiveness. Just the fact that you see things in yourself that you want to change…that’s fantastic. That shows you are open to change…

I am, by nature, a stubborn person. Over time…I’ve slowly let down my guard and just asked God to come into my life and change me. It’s a journey and a long term process…at least it has been for me. At the same time…it’s been the most profoundly life changing experience I have ever gone through. I don’t really have any words that could describe it with justice.

One thing I have learned and which is hard sometimes for me to accept-with God…I am loved beyond anything I can ever understand. As a human…it’s tough to grasp but when I learned to at least accept it as best as I could understand it…makes living with my warts, flaws etc. a lot easier.

Take care of yourself and God bless you. Don’t forget to hug yourself…you deserve it.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Gracious and merciful God, please come to their assistance, if it be Your divine will.
