I know this may see to be a minor situation compared to most on this forum and the lord knows it has been forever since I have even logged into the forums, but I could use a small prayer for myself and my family. As a convert from a staunchly protestant family this place has always been a wonderful place of understanding and support.
So here is what is going on…I made the fatal mistake of starting a business with a close friend (I know, horrible idea). This person is godparent to my kids and we have been friends forever. I never thought in a million years or my wildest dreams she would have done what she did. Well 8 months ago, my husband and our 2 kids were driven from our home by flood waters and we are still displaced (living with my parents) until the house is sold (closing next week!!) and we can get into another. We had no flood insurance as we were no where near a flood zone so its just taking longer to get back up from that hit. Since then I have been less able to be involved in the business but made myself as available as possible and was often told that she didn’t need me, i even agreed that she should pay herself more to make up for having to do more work in and once we can get back in town i could be more available…well fast forward a bit…she decided she wants the business to herself and she wanted to buy me out. I tried to be as fair as possible but she wanted me out anyway. Very hurtful. Next thing I know I have been locked out of all of our accounts and am being given an take it or leave it offer (which is about 1/3 or less of what i am owed). I’m a dummy thinking one of my closest friends wouldn’t do this so i didn’t feel vulnerable until it was too late and i’m basically just out of luck. The worst part is the friendship being smashed to pieces. Im just devastated and feeling foolish. The whole reason we started it in the first place was to save for my children and provide opportunities for them (we are wanting to homeschool) so it feels like she is cheating my kids too and that makes it feel worse somehow…I just would like to ask for any prayers for the situation and for strength and that I can turn the whole mess around into something that is good, that can help teach my children, that could help someone somewhere…Thank you! My prayers are with you all.
