Prayers for future career move

Hi guys! Your prayers have been a big help for me and I appreciate every single one of them. I have another prayer request. I have a great desire, yet again, to become a veterinarian. This has occurred off and on since I was 7 years old. It came up again when I started watching “Big Cat Diary.” I was thinking about trying for vet school before I started discerning in 2008, then I forgot about it because of discernment. Now, I really want to try for it, however, I am concerned that my grades may not be good enough to warrant admission to the schools I am looking at. Back in 2008, I thought about going to an out-of-state school in the next state over because the one closest to me is too competitive (they are one of the MOST competitive schools in the country). Now, I’m learning about international schools and schools in the Caribbean that may be more lenient, but not lacking in excellent training.

Please pray for me. I’m thinking about going through the local veterinary tech program and gaining some great experience through work and volunteering before I apply. Of course, if I do decide to go this route, I will have to get a bachelor’s degree to tip the scales in my favor. I will most likely consider Biology or Zoology, but any bachelor’s degree is acceptable.

This is a tough decision, but if I am determined, I know I can do anything with the power of prayer and God’s help. Thanks in advance for your prayers!

I grew up on the family farm and we had Vets out all the time.
I live in Iowa so most of the vets were from Iowa State University.
I will pray for your vocation.

Thanks! I might start a novena to St. Francis soon to help determine if this is God’s will for me. By taking small steps, I won’t make the wrong decision, especially if I have time to pray for it, which I do. It’ll be quite a while before I am able to take the leap to veterinary school, and in the meantime, I hope to finish my AA degree and then possibly complete a veterinary tech program in my hometown. Fortunately, the Vet Tech program was just started last year. Before then, there were no opportunities nearby. Quite literally, I would have to move far away from home and I don’t think I can afford that at this juncture.

I am really excited about this possibility, but like I said, I am taking small steps and trying not to make hasty decisions. This is a big decision–one that requires a lot of thought and effort on my part.
 
Lord, please help DaughterofMary6 to get accepted into a good veterinary tech program so she can become a veterinarian and glorify you this way. She has a desire to do this and will be so grateful to you for your help in making this happen for her. Please help her to meet her financial needs so she can afford her education, and help her to do well in her B.S. (or B.A.) studies so she can get her degree and get accepted into the veterinary tech program that best suits her. Thank you, Lord, for hearing my prayer. Amen.

Thank you all for your prayers. I have to admit that I am excited about the idea. However, the kind of career I want doesn’t necessarily require that I become a veterinarian. My dream is to work with big cats (lions, leopards, cheetahs, and tigers) and follow them like they do on “Big Cat Diary.” I discovered that one of the schools near me has a Bachelor’s program in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. That might be a good start! I do so love animals. 🙂

O Great Saint Joseph,
you were completely obedient
to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Obtain for me the grace to know
the state of life that God
in His providence has chosen for me.
Since my happiness on earth,
and perhaps even my final happiness in heaven,
depends on this choice,
let me not be deceived in making it.

Obtain for me the light to know God’s Will,
to carry it out faithfully,
and to choose the vocation
which will lead me to a happy eternity.
