Hi,
I was talking with my spiritual director yesterday about many theological and spiritual topics. But there are some questions I am trying to figure out. I find it more helpful to ask my theological questions here than on the Apologetics forums. God sends me people in person to help me unfold the answers when I ask Him my theological questions in prayer, and ask others to as well.
But what I am trying to ask God is what is substance, nature, what is a person, particularly as relates to the Trinity. I was listening to an open Q&A on Catholic Answers Live on the radio while I was driving and someone was asking about whether each Person of the Trinity was a distinct substance, and as the Father was answering, I said to God, each Person “Then Who are each of You???”
Patrick Coffin recommended both Frank Sheed’s “Theology and Sanity” and “Theology for Beginners” which I have read both of and recommend everyone read, as they have an excellent “explanation” of the Trinity and the three Persons and their relation to each other, but I really extremely, superly, most definitely want to know more and more about the mystery of the Trinity and how the Divine Communion of the Three Persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, can bring each of us as Christians into full Communion with each other in the Church.
Please pray especially to St. John, St. Augustine, St. Thomas Aquinas, and any other good theologians you can think of who might be able to obtain for me the gift of wisdom and knowledge in understanding and applying this mystery to living in faith, hope, and charity.
