My husband and I have struggled with infertility for five years. We started the adoption process 3 years ago in addition to utilizing the services of the PPVI institute to try to grow our family. We’ve run into roadblocks in the adoption process which have been discouraging. We first went through Catholic Charities, and my DH’s age was an impediment to being prospective adoptive parents. Then we tried foster care adoption, and were foster parents to a beautiful baby who we thought we would get to adopt but who was reunited with her birth parents. Then we moved to a new state for DH’s new job, started the process all over again with that state’s Catholic Charities, and found out we had to move again to a new state (job transfer).

Now we are here, back in a house and in our new state, and we can’t agree which way to proceed. We know that adoption is an option, despite our frustrations with the process. What we can’t decide and would like God to help us with is which avenue to pursue. Is foster care right for us, should we go through a private agency agency, or is international adoption the right way to grow our family? I’m not looking for advice here, just prayers that God will lead us accordingly.

First let me say God Bless you for wanting to grow your family, especially in such a time we live where some people “throw away” their little gifts from God. Your post really touched me.:love:

Let me also say THANK YOU! I have one of these little angels. I thank God for him, and I thank GOD for his parents. They didn’t abort.

I will pray that God not only bless you and hear your prayers, but I’ll also pray for him to send more parents like you.

Lord, please help Ann and her husband know your will for their lives. Please bless this loving couple with a child, by whatever means you have planned for them. Thank you for your love Lord, Amen.

Mary and Joseph, please intercede on behalf of this couple who longs to become a family. You said yes to God when you were unsure of the future – help this couple to say yes to God’s plan, whatever it may be, and help them to trust as you did.

Ann, I just found this prayer to Saint Gerard in another thread (Barbara Therese posted it) and I just thought you might like it.

Good Saint Gerard, powerful intercessor before the throne of God, wonder-worker of our day, I call upon you and seek your aid. You know that our marriage has not as yet been blessed with a child and how much my husband and I desire this gift. Please present our fervent pleas to the Creator of life from whom all parenthood proceeds and beseech Him to bless us with a child whom we may raise as His child and heir of heaven. Amen.

I just wanted to update anyone who looked at my previous post and who may be curious about where God has led us.

After much prayer and thought, we’ve found a domestic adoption agency that we think meets our needs and we are working towards a domestic infant/young child adoption. I requested their paperwork this morning and we will be starting the application process asap. I really appreciated everyone’s prayers as we discerned God’s plan for us and if you have a spare moment for us in prayer please remember us as we wait for a placement.
