Hello all. I hope you are doing well. I am not having good practice driving sessions. My parents have been making the learning to drive process difficult. I am trying to remember, replica, and follow what the driving school yet the parents keep showing me something different. Driving videos on YouTube are not successful. I am having difficulty making smooth turns, straightening the cars, following the direction of the car, oversteering, and other problems. The cars that I used at the driving school are compact and sub-compact cars with a softer steering wheel. My parents’ cars are mid-size cars with a heavier steering wheel and the cars are decades old. My parents keep saying *“you can’t do anything right,” “you are slow,” “you are getting worse,” “you are worser than last week,” “you are worser than yesterday,” “there is not much improvement,” “you can’t watch where you are going,” “you are a fool,” *and yesterday said, “*you are unteachable and that you are wasting my time.” *They keep constantly saying “driving is easy. Driving is a simple as ABC. It is a piece of cake. It is a walk in the park.” [This contradicts what individuals on YouTube have said about driving and one was honest with me and said, *“Driving is difficult and it takes time. It’s a tough thing to teach too.” and another phone counselor told me, “people have to be patient and it seems your parents are not patient.”] Parents keep saying *“We and the other children (who were 16 at your age in 2005-2010) such as X, Y, and Z didn’t go to driving school and we just learned it 1 to 5 times and passed the test.” *Every day before I entered the car to practice, I pray to have a good day and a good driving lesson and i neither good nor easy. I don’t know how much ridicule and mean statements I can’t anymore. I feel like I really want to give up. It is hard for a young adult with a learning disability without the proper support to learn driving and its fundamental skills. They haven’t and will never be supportive of learning disability. They didn’t support me when I had questions to ask driving schools in my area about what they do to help those with learning disabilities and driving simulations. I had more questions to ask driving schools based on my needs and concerns. My parents just had nothing to ask them except the requirements for the state and never even attended the first class session required for parents. I was really alone in the process.
I am at the point of feeling I need to throw the towel, give up, and exiting this world if this continues. I feel uncomfortable practicing with them because of this. I do not have any friends at all in my life. Please continue to pray for me. I do not know what to do anymore and I feel alone. I also feel like a complete imbecile and an idiot because I cannot anything right in driving and anything else right in life. Maybe I made a stupid mistake about taking initative in learning how to drive. I just blame myself for everything since everything is my fault.
