It was years ago, and one day I collapsed to the floor with probably one and a half
seconds notice. No time to yell and no time to phone. I didn’t know why, but I
knew that I could be dying, and I was very nearly right. My wife was and is a
remarkable lady who believes in God, and the Trinity, and in prayer. She asked whole
churches to pray for my survival, including both Protestants and Roman Catholics. Here
I want to mention a fine group of “charismatic renewal” Roman Catholics that she contacted that agreed to pray for me.
They were most faithful people and prayed for me and asked about me afterwards.
Several months afterwards when I was home again and mending, they invited us
to the home of a member and so my wife and I agreed to come. It was wonderful of them
to invite us and after we ate we sat around and talked and they asked me to recount
my experiences with my illness. I told them that it was probably not so unusual that
I was still alive, after my illness and my brain bleed, but it was usually seen with
people such as myself for the patient to get seizures, and very common for the patient
to never completely recover to near normal. I was improving “inch by inch” and
I had not had a single seizure. I was going to recover close to normal in time and
I wanted to thank them for praying for me. I could see a link between the many
prayers and my recovery. Also I think that I needed every one of those prayers.
The lady who seemed to be one of the leaders accepted my thanks and kissed me
on the forehead. My thanks I send to all that prayed for me all the way up to God.
Also my former supervisor for many years sent me a letter while I was ill and promising
to pray for me. He was also a Roman Catholic and a very faithful believer. I saw
what he wrote and thanked him later. I was fortunate to have so many faithful
believers pray for me.
When I was asked to pray for others, do you think that I included Roman Catholics?
I certainly did, and the Lord was wonderful in what he did for one of those.
To you all here in loving respect.
