Prayers for Iraqi Christians

I saw the prayer intention thread for prayers for Ukrainians, and I thought I’d add one for prayers for Iraqi Christians.

Iraqi Christians, both those in communion with Rome, and those who are Orthodox, are facing orders from ISIL that will mean their elimination from that country and which even require them to turn over their daughters to Islamic men for marriage. ISIL intends to eliminate Christianity from the region as part of their fanatic goal of establishing an Islamic Caliphate. Iraq, like Syria, had a Christian population during the Apostolic Age and this is a tragedy of tremendous proportions. God grant that this may end, they may be restored to their churches and Peace, and that the region may consider Christ’s true message once again.

Praying for all Christians affected by this crisis.
 
Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

My sincere prayers for all my brothers and sisters in Christ in Iraq. Lord in Your infinate Mercy and Grace please protect and surround these Your children with Your loving protection, peace and love as they live in such turmoil. Provide mercifully for their needs and keep them in Your heavenly care, in Jesus’s most Holy Name, Amen.

Prayer for Persecuted Christians

Father in Heaven, you make your sun shine
on good and bad alike.
Your Son Jesus Christ died for us all
and in his glorious Resurrection
He still retains the five wounds of his Passion.
With his divine power he now sustains
all those who suffer persecution and martyrdom
for the sake of their fidelity
to the faith of the Church.
Merciful and mighty Father,
do not allow Cain to return again to murder
helpless Abel, innocent Abel.
May persecuted Christians around the world
remain, like Mary, their Mother,
together at the foot of the cross
of Christ the Martyr.
Comfort those menaced by violence
and those oppressed by uncertainty.
May your Holy Spirit of love
make fruitful the witness and the blood
of those who die forgiving.

I will always pray for our brothers and sisters in the middle east being persecuted, and in other areas around the globe.
 
Eternal Father, we humbly offer Thee our poor presence, and that of the whole of humanity, from the beginning to the end of the world at all the Masses that ever have or ever will be prayed. We offer Thee all the pains, sufferings, prayers, sacrifices, joys, and relaxations of our lives, in union with those of our Lord Jesus here on earth. May the Most Precious Blood of Christ, all His Blood, Wounds, and Agony save us, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary. Amen.

May I add to that prayer for
the gospel to be once again preached
to the Heathen in Iraq.

“Who can call on the One they have not heard?
Who can hear w/o a preacher?
and who can preach unless they are called?”!
