Hi everyone,
My sister in law, a cradle atheist, sent me a text message a short while ago asking me to pray for her. She’s never believed in God, but for the past few years she’s admitted to my mom that she was feeling that something was missing in her life, and that she had no idea how to fill that hole. She’d been open to hearing my mom’s opinions that God is calling her, but was never ready to take the pluge. We all kept our distance about “God talk” with her, unless she brought it up first… but we’ve all kept her and my brother’s family in our prayers… always asking for her conversion.
Last week, she discovered something in her breast. She has an appointment today to have it checked out. Naturally her mind is working on overdrive imagining the worst possible scenarios.
Although this is not ideal and we dread that she could be sick, my family can’t help but be elated, because the last few days have shown us that God is working hard in her life! She’s been praying on her own- this is a girl who’s never prayed before. I’m sure she doesn’t know any formal catholic prayers yet. She texted me to say that she is finding peace and strength in prayer, and that she even asked my brother to take her and their children to church yesterday!
I have promised that I would start a novena for her tomorrow, and I am commiting to going to church for her every day of the novena (I need to get into the habit of going daily either way, so I’m happy to use her as my fuel).
My 16 year old son has also comitted to doing a novena for her as well… i’ll be doing a second rosary for her at night with my son.
I’m asking my prayer warrior brothers and sisters to please keep her in your prayers. Her conversion would move mountains for my brother, who believes in God but needs the added fuel to get him going to church. They also have 2 little ones that need baptism along with my sister in law.
GOD IS SOO GOOD!
Thank you all so much
