Prayers for Job Search!

I just applied for a job as an automotive technician. I’d basically be doing oil changes and just basic car maintenance, because believe it or not, I am actually good with cars lol. Anyhow, it pays well, and it would be the ideal situation for me. Also, it’s my first step in gaining my independence! So prayers would be greatly appreciated.

I’m also applying for other jobs, but the one mentioned above would be a real blessing (since it’s one of my passions). Thanks! God bless!

Oh! Any suggestions on other job possibilities for a 20 year old college student?

Waitress. You can make a lot of money working just a few hours. A lot of my friends waited tables to get through college and earned far more working 20 hours each week than most of the other people I knew working 30-40 hours each week.
 
If you’re good with power tools and ride-on equipment there are lots of landscaping jobs during the spring, summer and fall. Residential, commercial, golf courses, etc.

Like you, I’m also good with cars. However, here in Canada I wouldn’t be able to get a job as an automotive technician without a certificate or apprenticeship.

I like this suggestion and would add that any kind of hospitality job would probably be good, considering you are a young woman. I’m not saying that to be creepy, but there’s a reason that restaurants, hotels, and other service-oriented places have primarily young women doing most of the customer interaction.

While I do agree that u can earn a lot being a waitress, it really depends which restaurant, though. Some u won’t get that much, and some u will. I used to work at Benihana as a Kitchen Aid, and I know the waiters/waitresses would make around 40-100 a night in tips, which is pretty decent.

I think the automotive experience, though, which the OP is getting now, will look really good on a resume, and it can open up other possible opportunities in the field of mechanics; I can think of a couple on the top of my head which hire technicians to fix mail-processing equipment like Pitney Bowes and Bell & Howell. And the main experience that u need for these 2 companies is mechanical, with some basic electrical understandings. But if one knows how to fix cars, then one should be able to handle the job of a technician that fixes the kind of equipment that these 2 companies produce. I’ve worked for one of them as a mechanical/electrical tech in the past, and the job isn’t all too hard, and pays pretty well. But u definitely need to be mechanically inclined and have some basic electrical background, like being able to use a digital multi-meter, etc…
