Prayers for Kosta Karageorge

[Ben_Shipman]

Please offer prayers for the soul of Kosta Karageorge, who was found dead today - apparently by suicide. He had been suffering from concussions he received playing on his college football team, and if this was the reason, then his judgment was likely impaired when he died.

His family will also be in great need of support in the wake of this tragedy, so please pray for them too.

***Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death
Amen.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

**Blessed Apostle Peter,
to whom God has given the keys of the kingdom of Heaven,
and the power to bind and loose,
grant that we may be delivered through the help
of your intercession from the bonds of our sins.
O, Holy Shepherd,
Prince of the Apostles,
pray for us that we may be made worthy
of the promises of Christ.

Amen.**

I mourn the life of Kosta, pray for the repose of his soul into eternal life, and for his friends and family who loved him.

God of Life,
we are all in this life together
and as fellow travelers
we know there is more that
we can do to eradicate
fear and denial of suicide and
to make a place in our prayers
for all those who give up on life
and choose self-destruction.

God of Life,
suicide has touched the lives
of many of us and we are
called to bring to both
the victims and their survivors
our large reserves of
love and compassion.

God of Life,
help us to be present to
and to take note of the
distress signals of suicidal
relatives, friends, or community
members. If problems persist,
may we call for help from
suicide prevention centers,
crisis hot-lines, and therapists.

In Your mercy, take this
unfortunate young man
into your heavenly kingdom,
and there wipe away every tear.
In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
