When we got married, we were both lapsed, but I recently came back home to the Church. He says he believes in God and that he prays sometimes, but he claims to be a “cultural Catholic” or “post-Catholic” and makes hurtful comments about the Church both to my face and on social media. It’s been especially bad lately with the canonization of Popes JPII and John XXIII. I put a green scapular in his pillow and have been offering up the Sacrifice of the Mass for him every Sunday. Please pray for him (and for us)!

Also, our cat has been very sick, so please spare a prayer for poor Arya.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

My husband was never intentionally hurtful but several years ago it seemed I was very concerned about his soul. God just wasn’t really on his radar. I asked friends to pray with me and did a 40 day fast for several marriages. I also did a novena to Saint Benedict asking him to break away any negative spiritual influences and a novena simultaneously to the Holy Spirit to give him a love for the Church. I also bought several St. Benedict medals and put them in his car, wallet, under his side of the bed. He told me about 5 days later he wanted to go to the Catholic bookstore and buy a study bible. I almost fell over. He began reading it and the catechism. I got up the next morning and went to 6:30 am mass for the first time thanking God. He also then told me he felt under spiritual attack. I had seen the author of the book, Onward Catholic Soldiers at a conference and he stated that we have the ability due to our baptism to do a “mini exorcism prayer,” over someone we have authority over. “If there are any spirits not from the Holy Spirit in “name of person”, I bind them in the name of Jesus Christ for as long as it serves the will of God.” Then you can ask the Holy Spirit to fill “person’s name” with His grace, gifts, fruits, etc. The first time I did this, my husband was sleeping and he really did kind of jump. You can say it often and you don’t have to physically be present to say it either. I also say the St. Michael prayer often. Can’t hurt?

I pray that your husband’s heart would be softened and that he would make a genuine return to the Church. :signofcross:

Dear St. Monica,
troubled wife and mother,
many sorrows pierced your heart during your lifetime.
Yet, you never despaired or lost faith.
With confidence, persistence, and profound faith,
you prayed daily for the conversion
of your beloved husband, Patricius,
and your beloved son, Augustine;
your prayers were answered.
Grant me that same fortitude, patience,
and trust in the Lord.
Intercede for me, dear St. Monica,
that God may favorably hear my pleas for
AClaire11’s husband, that he may be converted.
Grant me the grace to accept His Will in all things,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.

Amen.

“O Blood and Water which gushed forth from the heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You”.

I remember your husband to the patronage of St. Joseph, model spouse, and Aryya to dear St. Francis. Amen.

Dear Lord, keep evil at bay in this marriage and please grant them both the grace to persevere through this spiritual struggle.

Praying that the Lord may guide your husband and draw him back to the Church. Also praying for all necessary graces for both of you.

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Thank you for your prayers. So far he hasn’t made any more comments, but that might be because nothing has pushed the Church to the front of his mind lately. Please continue to pray for us!
