CinciMom:
I just heard Laura on Sean Hannity’s show. She sounds good (all things considering). She could not emphasize enough to tell women to take care of themselves, especially taking the time to do a monthly breast exam.

My step mother is a breast cancer survivor as well as a friend of mine. It is affecting more and more women each day.

God bless Laura and other women who are going through this…
I, too heard her on Sean Hannity this afternoon. I had planned on playing my Phantom of the Opera CD on my way home from work, but thought I’d listen to Sean for a few minutes. I’m glad I did. :crying: Note-it’s not good to be:crying: at 70 mph! But ladies, I have to say this - PLEASE LISTEN to Laura. Get checked, do monthly exams, get your mammogram!!! My mom had a HUGE tumor that she ignored. I made her call the doctor. Sure enough it was cancer. I saw the tumor on the scan and about slugged her for not going sooner. By the grace of God, it had not spread to the lymph nodes. When a tumor is as big as my moms was… well, by all rights, she should be dying or dead. I’m calling the doctor tomorrow to get my check-up! Who’s with me? Anyone want to hold me accountable, cause I’ll do the same for you. We all are gonna die someday, but it doesn’t need to be from our own lack of self-care.

My grandmother did the same thing, ignored a tumor until it was literally the size of a small orange. She was a big woman and it was not that easy to find even then but had she gone in earlier, while she may not have lived many more year they would been more pleasant years. Due to all of the breast cancer in my family I’m pretty religious about this issue. Still I was surprised to hear the tumor was ‘too small to be diagnosed on a mammogram’ but could be detected with BSE. That must have been SOME doctor who was able to detect it at this stage. I am praying for Laura’s quick recovery.

That’s about the size of my mom’s tumor. I am still po’ed at her(this was 2 years ago) for not going sooner. SHE KNEW IT WAS THERE AND HERS WAS INCREDIBLY EASY TO FIND. Plus, she had the dimpling in the breast that comes with larger tumors.

Have YOU been checked recently?

I believe in my heart that Laura will be fine.

Oh my! I’ll keep her in my prayers. She’s one of my fave conservative commentators. I always liked the “humanity” of her, she’s relatable…

Looks like the operation was a success and Laura is already back home! Thanks be to God!

From her web site:

THE POWER OF PRAYER AND LAURA UPDATE: Laura’s breast cancer surgery yesterday “couldn’t have gone better,” in the words of her surgeon Dr. Katherine Alley. Initial sentinel node testing done during surgery showed no signs of cancer involvement in the lymph nodes, and we all hope that this good news is confirmed by more in-depth tissue testing done over the next 48 hours. “The outpouring of love and concern coast-to-coast in prayer, emails, telephone calls has left me feeling more blessed than I can possibly convey,” said Laura Thursday morning from home. “I really don’t know what I did to deserve such kindness but I will gladly wrap myself in it,” she chuckled. “It’s weird but getting cancer has made me feel more blessed than I ever felt before, and I will do everything I can to return the generosity 100-fold when I am feeling a bit better.” According to Laura and her friends who were there throughout, the entire staff at the Surburban Hospital Outpatient Medical Center in Bethesda, MD was amazing. Absolutely top-notch! According to one of Laura’s friends, as she was being taken into surgery, she joked about whether the hospital was running a “two-for-one” surgery special–“a lumpectomy and a lift together–20 percent off!”
