Prayers for me (I’m struggling with the death of my baby)

Please pray for me and my husband. At 26 weeks pregnant I found out our daughter was critically ill. They gave us no chance of survival and told us to abort. We refused and carried on with the pregnancy. I developed polyhydramnios, a hydropic placenta, my organs became squished and my liver began to fail. I had faith that God would reward my suffering and save my child. At 32 weeks she was born and died after half an hour. We were forced to perform an emergency baptism (which I’m not sure even worked as we couldn’t tough her and I was so out of it I’m not sure I even said the right thing). I have struggled with my faith more than I thought I would. I feel abandoned and angry. Please pray for me, that I can save my faith and see my daughter again. Please also pray that I may one day be blessed with a living child!
 
I am about to go pray for all of you. My heart is with you. So difficult.

I had a so-called perfect life until at 41, I became manic and psychotic. Lost my mind. Had to retire. Lost 98 percent of all friends and family. Schizophrenia slash bipolar. Sent to a scary and super dangerous state hospital for five years. Super, super sick brain. I felt lost and abandoned. Confused and scared.

But you know who never abandoned me, ever? God. Jesus. They stood by me, allowing me to hang on to just enough of my faith not to end my life before He was done with me. I never felt God hated me. Thought perhaps He was mad maybe for all my selfish earthly focus. I did not understand then the purpose behind not being allowed to see my precious son for nine years. But I decided to believe that He knew what He was doing and to just hold on.

Sometimes, when my meds don’t work and I am hallucinating and hearing voices, I grab my bible and clutch it to my chest. It comforts me.

Lean into your faith. Lean on Jesus, who suffered mightily for us. It may be years before you can make humanly sense of this. It is okay. We are just feeble humans. Trust Him. He knows what He is doing and He loves you and that little baby so much.

Please note that ultimately God Himself does the baptizing, and what you might perceive as a possible “technicality” does not impede His love, grace, etc.

For Help in Trials

Most holy apostle St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor who delivered your beloved Master into the hands of His enemies has caused you to be forgotten by many. But the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of hopeless cases–of things despaired of. Pray for me who feels so hopeless. Make use, I implore you, of that particular privilege accorded to you of bringing visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolations and succor of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, in particular (Philomenasmum), and that I may bless God with you and all the elect throughout eternity. I promise you, O Blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, and I will never cease to honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to do all in my power to encourage devotion to you. Amen.

He did save your child, and your suffering on her behalf were the means that He used to save her. Glory to God.

Seriously, I can’t imagine the pain you must be in. I’m so sorry. But consider this: by your heroic suffering, you were able to secure baptism for your daughter. I’m sure you were in a great deal of pain and anxiety, and people were advising you to abort. You didn’t, and because of that, you can be supremely confident that your daughter is a saint in Heaven, in the presence of Christ Himself.

What you did and endured is a perfect example of the kind of sacrificial love a mother pours out for her child. You did well. I pray God blesses your family with more children, but if not…you are a hell of a mom and don’t ever think otherwise.
